Ive used the full version of Corel Painter for years and its one of my favorite packages for digital art, especially when using a Wacom Tablet. The power of the full version is a bit too much for many people, but Painter Essentials is accurately named: it captures the essential piece of Painter and allows an artist thats new to digital art or that doesnt want to learn a bunch of menus to create something beautiful.

I really enjoy my Painter Essentials 5. A real value for the price. I have used the full program Painter in the past and find even with its limitations (such as no masks, limited ways of selection from individual layers etc) PE5 it is a good program. Very stable and has many of the basic good brushes. (Would love to be able to add more ). I found auto painting works very well. The buyer should have a basic knowledge of using layers to use this program to its full potential. I found it very compatible to use with work done in Photoshop Elements. Good videos on YouTube, but we could use more with simple basic painting use of the program. A good starting program for painting and a good painting program that does not take a lot of hard drive space up on your laptop. Try it you will like it!

Got this with my new tablet and was looking forward to giving it a go. Unfortunately the colours are all wrong on my main monitor. The canvas is always a pale yellow though it insists that it is in fact white. Switching to a secondary monitor fixes the issue after a moment but its not an issue with the main monitors colour settings as white appears fine in other programs. Furthermore the yellow remains after moving over to the other monitor until after the window-drag has been released. If I had to guess I would say somewhere in the software someone thought they would try to colour correct for the monitor and got it wrong.

This version has issues with Mac OS High Sierra.

Pretty nice basic painting software. Not maintained by Corel. Dont expect updates.
