I can confirm other reviews commenting on the VOCs, or to me the smell. It does have a very plasticy, unpleasant smell when you put your face right in the air and take a deep breath. Dont notice it in the room though and no one has yet died in the 6 months since I installed it. Air seems clean.

Very pleased that the replacement filters fit perfectly and appears to the real deals and not cheap knock offs.

This is the thing we needed. It had the quality the brand carries.

I bought this unit because it was recommended by in an appliance magazine survey. Its really well designed. Very quiet unless its put on maximum fan speed, and even then the sound is less than what youd expect. It can be used in the manual mode or in the automatic mode. In the manual mode the fan speed is constant. In the automatic mode a sensor determines how many particles are in the air and it adjusts the fan speed up until the air quality improves and then it moves the fan speed back down. The controls are all intuitive. Very good value.

I have three of these units. The thing that I like best is the option to remove the carbon filter. I have found those can create a bad, as well as irritating smell for me and make units unusable. I have 2 of these hepa replacements. Haven’t found a problem with any smell. But, on receipt, the first thing I do is throw away the carbon. I also don’t use the ionizer. Hope this helps someone.

Fits and works well. Chemical odor was initially present and faded over time.

The filter works fine for the air purifier, easy to install, no smell as some have noticed, but I am dissatisfied with two things - the price is a bit high and I dont need two odor filters. Give me two air filters and one odor filter and the price works for me!

A lot of ppl did that these smell weird when installed but for us they were prefect. We had a new baby so that was a concerned for us. They fit perfectly. Worth the buy

I decided to pay extra for the OEM version rather than the generic, and I could instantly tell that the Coway brand had thicker pleats than the generic. Working fine.
