> 24 hourI recommend that no one buy this filter, in fact anything from Culligan. The quality of this product has changed in recent years such that it should be banned from the market. The problem is that the polymer endcaps fail in what is called punching shear. I have used this make and model of filter for 10 years without a single problem until this past year. I purchased a few years supply of filters at once (as I normally do) in 2010 and noticed the endcaps were of a softer material than in the past, but I didnt think much of this since these endcaps also serve as the gaskets. However, upon removal of this filter after using it for a few months (my typical use) I discovered the filter medium and endcaps had collapsed (not disintegrated) like an accordion, while the center core remained straight and at its original length. Closer inspection revealed the endcap had failed in a ring around the point of contact with the filter housing. This is the location where a separate gasket would be on top of the filter. Unfortunately, this did not turn out to be a one-time occurrence. The exact same failure has happened with three subsequent filters, even though I cut the use period in half. Clearly, this whole batch of filters is defective. I have been in contact with the manufacturer (Culligan) over the past few months, and after some limited success at getting them to respond (which was a struggle I might add), they have eventually stopped replying to my emails. This is very poor for public relations. At first, I got several excuses as to why this was not their problem, the most interesting being their claim that the filters I bought were not made by Culligan because they were not purchased directly from Culligan. I informed them that I purchased them from Amazon.com, but they still maintained this argument. I scanned the label on the filter, which clearly shows their logo and contact information (which I had used to contact them) and they became even less responsive. Then I placed the next logical step in the investigation for them to answer, and that is when they ceased to respond altogether. This statement was that if they claim they have no material defects, and since they feel the filter is a counterfeit knock off, then why havent they pursued legal action against the supplier to Amazon? I must conclude that they indeed discovered a material defect with their product and dont wish to continue the discussion for fear of later litigation. I have since researched and found alternate brands of filters (I use both a sediment filter and carbon filter in my system) and will avoid ever using Culligan products again. I will also recommend to anyone that I can to avoid this manufacturer. That is what has compelled me to write this review.

> 24 hourIt did seem odd that a filter that was described on the packaging thus: REDUCES Sediment Rust Scale Dirt Course Sand Sand and then would go on to state: This cellulose cartridge is not recommended for use with untreated well water. One could only wonder what was left to Treat. Called Culligan and a technical rep explained that the statement referencing untreated referred to treatment for bacteria. Apparently if there is bacteria in the water they love cellulose and can rapidly compromise the filter by digesting it. I suggested to the Culligan rep that they be a bit more explicit in their disclaimer and specifically reference treatment for bacteria.

> 24 hourCheaper than the AquaPure filters that we used to use (they were $30 per filter). We have to replace these much sooner than the premium brand, but the price is worth it. Our water is super bad, so we try to replace filters at least 1 time per month or so.

> 24 hourI used this twice for about a year thinking that this is compatible with GE GXWH35F housing. But now I dont think it is compatible. It is compatible in a sense that it fits inside the housing. However, when I closely look at the top, the size of the grove that makes seal against the housing water inlet side is quite different. That means the seal between clean and dirty water may not be tight. Also when I take the old one out, I see much sediments in clean water side, which I didnt used to see when I was using GE cartridges.

> 24 hourSince purchasing the Culligan P5 4 pack, Ive noticed a considerable decrease in length of use before having to replace over the last 6 months. Prior to that when I had purchased this Culligan P5 from Lowes, I was able to get about 2-3 months of use before replacement. The last filters from my previous 4 pack only lasted about 1 month each. This recent order came in different packaging with Standard Filtration rather than Premium filtration on the label. I called Culligans Customer Service and the agent told me Culligan does not sell 4 packs of this filter, only 2 packs. He did say that the packaging no longer says Premium, just Standard filtration for this specific filter. He warned that this was not an authentic product from Culligan. In the future I will purchase only the Culligan 2 packs even though theyre more expensive. The agent said Lowes no longer carries this filter, but Ace Hardware does. Will have to see if the 2 packs from Amazon last longer. Dont know yet.

> 24 hourI have had this water filtration system for a few years but had trouble locally buying replacement filters. Decided to do a google search and found them the cheapest through Amazon with free shipping for orders over $25.00. Great deal and filters work fantastic. Love this whole house water filtration system and would highly recommend this product. Inexpensive to filter out some of the bad stuff found in city water.
