> 3 dayThis product was recommended to me by a friend who does wood working! He made his wife a BEAUTIFUL Cutting Board for CHRISTmas and used this Walrus Oil on it! I’m still working on my cutting board and not yet to the oiling point, but this Friend knows what he’s doing (I do not) so I’m taking his valued word for it!!!

> 3 dayJust heard about Walrus Oil from a fellow woodworker. Decided to give it a try. Refinished a cutting board. The end result was terrific. Brought out the deep rich tones of the wood. Extra plus is that it is FDA rate for food contact.

> 3 dayBest way to preserve your cutting boards and any other raw wood items in your home. May turn some light woods slightly darker on first application but does fade over time as it is fully absorbed.

> 3 dayI am super happy with this stuff. It will not disappoint! I have used it on a few cutting boards, and on the spoon and chopsticks pictured. I have noticed that it helps keep the tips of the chopsticks from getting stains after eating with them, which is a bonus! My wife has commented to me that she likes the feel of our wooden knife handles that I have treated with Walrus Oil too. This feels like it leaves the surface more smooth and protected than other butcher block oils Ive used. Other oils seem to just raise the wood grain which leaves the surface feeling worse than before. But my observation is that this oil actually leaves a nicer surface. Cant say enough good things about it!!

> 3 dayI received the Walrus cutting board oil, wax, and an applicator in the same bag. Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, the oil seal was broken and the contents seeped out of the bag. Very messy. I was able to salvage some of the bottle and save the other items but still a bit frustrating. I used what I had left on my cutting board tonight so not sure on the results yet but I do recommend buying a different squeeze bottle with a close cap for application as the bottle it comes in is not very efficient as far as putting the oil where you want it.

> 3 dayI bought this for the good reviews and the price. Its really nothing special but food grade mineral oil, coconut oil, etc. But 8 ozs. was not enough for my 16x20 inch new birch cutting board. The results were OK, no real complaints. But I still need to do a second coating to get the board properly oiled to satisfy me. One thing Im glad I learned - contrary to the directions to apply a coating then wipe off excess in 12-24 hours. Actually, the best thing to do for a new or clean but very dry cutting board is to apply a good coat or layer of oil with a small cheap 2-inch paint brush (Walmart for $1.00). But then put paper towels down over the wet board. The reason for this is that it helps the oil to penetrate better. It took me a bit over 3 days to get both sides of this birch board & most retail store boards are yellow birch. Birch is a wood with dense pores and if the board is new or clean but very dry it will take longer for the board to get properly saturated with the oil to truly protect it. Even after I rubbed the excess from the paper towels into the wood when removing them, it still took another day to dry enough for use. Last, although not in the instructions, if you have a used board that needs to be oiled, DO NOT use hot water & soap to clean it off first before oiling it. Use COLD WATER & soap ONLY to clean wood boards. Using hot water actually opens the pores and allows stains to penetrate into the wood. Hot water and soap will also remove the oil from the wood, whereas cold water & mild soap will not. Id stay away from dish soap since most have ingredients designed to break down oily residue from pots and pans. When you clean your board off use only cold water & mild soap. Hope this help you all.

> 3 daySanded, cleaned then added two coats of this oil to my maple & oak cutting board; it looks and seems in near new condition. Since treatment, my cutting board has not significantly faded in color nor has the oil added unwanted taste to foods touching its surface. I recommend this oil.

> 3 dayI was told of this product by a man who has a woodshop. Used it on my Acacia Butcherblock and Wow. So much better then big store products offered. Great results and food grade safe. Worth every penny spent. Will buy more.
