18-11-2024I decided to take on the challenge of building a cutting board from scratch for my lovely wife. I watched many videos on how to properly seal and give longevity to the well manicured butcher block. A friend of mine suggested, “try walrus oil”. This sounded highly illegal and inhumane. In the southeastern region of the United States, this particular mammal is considered ultra rare, however, squirrels are plentiful. I hunted early in the morning and captured a dray of squirrels. I don’t believe in waste so I cleaned them and made biscuits and gravy from my great grandmothers recipe book. I rendered the fat to a fine oil. 12 squirrels provided enough to coat one board and feed my family of 2. Because I am a cutting board novice, I didn’t think it through and the blood soaked butcher block was resisting the squirrel oil. I resanded the boards and after noticing google had monitored my search history an add for this product appeared. I was shocked walrus oil was bottled and sold. I read the contents and this actually contains zero walrus material. Relieved, but feeling duped, I ordered a bottle. It went on with ease and gave the boards a perfect shine. Animal lovers like me, have no fear, this product is not what you think! It’s better!

> 3 dayThis is a great product ~ worth the money. Very little goes a long way. I bought a very nice big OLD cutting board at a church sale. After using this oil, it looks brand new. I bet they wouldn’t sell it for 2 bucks now!

> 3 dayI had some older kitchen knives, and related tools, with wood handles, that had not been treated well. They were dried out and rough, but not to the point of cracking (yet). I wanted to save them with a food safe product and chose the Walrus Oil Cutting Board Oil to try. I sanded down the handles to 220 grit to smooth them, and applied the Walrus Oil with a rag. It soaked right in. I wiped off any excess after a few minutes. After letting them dry for 24 hours, I did this again, buffing the handles with a dry rag at the end. The instructions did not say that the second coat was necessary (limited instructions on the bottle and at the company website), but I wanted to do this. The handles immediately took on a dark, smooth finish, comparable to newer, well-cared for knives. Along with better care (no more dishwasher trips), the Walrus Oil helped me save several knives and kitchen tools. It was very easy to do.

17-11-2024I have a wooden cutting board that I needed to oil. Wasn’t sure what vegetable based oil was. Found it on Amazon. The best place to find anything. Very easy to smear on and wipe off.

> 3 dayI received an expensive, personalized, charcuterie board as a gift. The only problem, it wasnt conditioned and protected from use. I reviews many different products and found this one. I was nervous as I applied it and the results were AMAZING. It changed the whole board - made the wood colors POP to life!!!! I ended up putting 3 coats on the charcuterie board and then went and pulled out trivets (I put 2 coats on them). I let them rest about 30 minutes between coats, then let it sit for a day. No greasy feeling on the wood. After uses, I will continue to apply to the board (dont use the board that often). I LOVE this product and would recommend it.
