> 3 dayThe Dakota 4000 works very well but the swivel base moves a little to freely, also bought one for my neighbor and they both quit working in about two years

> 3 dayI have only had it installed for a few days, but so far it seems to work great. Our driveway is about 1/4mile long and there is not a direct line of sight from the house to the end of the driveway. We have lots of trees and small hills in the way, so I chose the 1 mile range unit. You know how it goes, the range is only accurate in ideal, line of sight conditions. Even so, I half expected this not to work, but it seems to easily handle the distance. The other nice thing is that I haven’t had any false triggers either. Obviously, I will have to see if long term it can hold up to weather and how long the battery lasts, but so far so good.

Greater than one weekI needed a comprehensive detection system for our rural home. Did not want made in China junk. Found the Dakota Alert system. Made in USA . . hurray! Install and programming is simple and straight forward. And even more importantly it is customizable and scalable. I highly recommend the Dakota Alert 4000 series systems.

> 3 dayOnly have had it up for about a month but it works fine. We have two motion detectors and it is nice to be able to choose 2 different alarm sounds for each. The deer occasionally set the driveway one off but that’s ok.

> 3 dayDriveway alarm purchased to detect cars - apparently only works well if the car is hot.....people it detects well....buyer beware you need the magnetic probe if you want 100% car detection....

> 3 dayWas excited to find a product from a reputable company that showed the potential if 1 mile transmittal distance. What a disappointment ! The items seem like decent build quality. The tones are a bit dated in such a digital age. Easy to install. Too bad it didnt reach 1200 with nearly line of sight. The receiver is in a metal pole building, but I really didnt expect to lose over 3/4 the transmission distance. Ill place the receiver in a window sill tomorrow and try again at the preferred location (1200 away). If that doesnt help its, sadly, headed back. An option for an external antenna on the receiver would be a nice feature. Some better tones would help as well. We shall see tomorrow if it stays or if it goes. Ill update this review if I can.
