The appeal of this product was the addition of DVD mastering to its broad stable of capabilities. I purchased a DVD burner in late 2001 and have had a hard time finding a reliable, flexible, reasonably-priced DVD authoring solution. Roxio has come up with the best low-end solution Ive seen. First of all, it has no issues with my DVD-R/RW. burner, which already puts it a cut above the 3 other products I tried (OEM stuff that was included with the burner). The interface for the layout software may be just a bit too simple, though: it provides for an intro video clip (which plays as soon as your DVD is inserted in the player) and what appears to be an endless cascade of menus and sub-menus. The program provides a couple dozen menu themes, but there doesnt appear to be any way to create use a custom theme, and the provided themes seem to be based around a familiar chapter-style interface--more traditional menu navigation (ie, Play Movie/Set-Up/Special Features) doesnt seem to be an option. Basically, the DVD-builder is created to get your video to DVD with a minimum of difficulty, and a lot of flexibility is sacrificed to that end. Fortunately, the program seems to be able to handle just about anything you throw at it where content is concerned: I mixed MPEG files with raw DV footage, including a variety of resolutions ranging from 160 x 120 to 752 x 480, and the program just workhorsed its way through the job at the click of a button. Not spectacular, but workable, and a great way to distribute your reels to prospective clients. Ive played a bit with the audio side of things, too, recording a few old LPs to CD, using the DeClick filter to remove pops, crackles, and ticks, and the program works very well for that. The DeClick filter isnt quite as effective as Id like, but it does take out a good bit of the surface noise. Once the LP is recorded, breaking it into CD tracks is a trivial activity that can generally be done without manual intervention. One thing thats inexcusable in the audio program, though, is the lack of an undo function (if its there, I cant find it). Also, it seems that once a track is marked, theres no simple way to unmark it. Its not hard to work around these small limitations, but they really shouldnt be there in the first place. One thing I dont like about the whole package is the all-or-nothing aspect of it: it wants to put itself everywhere on your machine...in the Start menu, in the clock tray, on the desktop...and it likes to be running in the background whenever you boot up. If you use the drag-to-disc feature, thats not a bad thing, but anything that creeps into so many corners of my system makes me a bit antsy, and the fact that the ROXIOP.exe program prevents my Win2K machine from shutting down without manual intervention doesnt give me warm fuzzies, either. Im hoping a patch is on the way. Overall, I like this program a lot after a week--its easy to use, doesnt seem to consume too many resources, and does what most people are buying it for. Could it be better? Sure. Can you get something better for the same price? Not from what Ive seen. Addenda: I discovered the drag-to-modify nature of the track markers which allows the user to easily move or delete existing tracks simply by tugging on their flags. I also discovered an unfortunate glitch where the track markers are concerned: it seems that sometimes a tiny, split-second piece of your track will inadvertently get attached to the track marker, resulting in a short burp of sound right before the actual track begins. This would be bad enough to be a show-stopper, except that its easily corrected: if you have a burping track marker, delete it and create a brand new track marker (with no associated burp) in exactly the same spot. This has cleared up the problem for me every time Ive tried it.

I spent a lot of time reading the negative reviews for this product. I decided to buy it anyway. Prior to installing the software, I made a full back up of my system as other reviewers said that they had trouble booting up after installation. I am running Win XP Home and my installation worked without issue. I love the new interface and new tools available. I have not had one error or problem and the burning speed is about 25% faster than version 5. Make sure you completely remove all of version 5 before installing the new version and you shouldnt have any issues.

I am very much into burning CDs and now DVDs with the help of Easy CD Creator 6. I have used many other burning software and have nothing but problems. Installing Nero 5 made me lose my drives and I was stuck in Tech Support hell......p. I also tried making VCD and DVD movies with Sonic My DVD and it was a very frustrating experience. With Creator 6 I was able to capture my video easily, add the content to the DVD Builder layout and I created a DVD with menus that played perfectly the first time I tried. I am telling you and hope you believe me when I say, this is the easiest CD and DVD burning application available hands down. I also forgot to mention the MGI photo application that is now owned by Roxio is also bundled as well. The biggest improvement over Creator 4 and 5 is the Audio application Audio Central which lets you rip MP3s and edit the MP3 file and ID Tags which contain all the information of the file. It compares to the audio features of Microsofts media player. I strongly recommend this suite of burning products to anyone that has a digital camera, video camera, dvd player, or wants to backup or create audio CDs. This application does it all.

All Roxio products Ive used on several different operating systems have always had one problem or another. I found their support staff to be worthless and returned my last Roxio Product vowing to never buy anything they made again. I know others rave about Roxio but I think as with all products there is always a certain percentage of dedicated enthusiasts that will support the product regardless of problems. System lock-ups might be expected on slower cpus with little memory but Ive had some powerhouses freeze up with Roxio.

Well, it might seem so at first, but it actually turns out to be a great deal. Offer a set of tools from CD to DVD burning and Photo-Editing. This update aims to provide users with a all in one solution that continues its tradition of ease of use. Because DVD-Burners are not white spread or people might not be burning home movies, the most used application or component must Easy CD Creator Classic, which still remains true to it self with minor improvements to user interface. If you do want expand your capabilities and to new areas such a DVD Burning which I think is great medium for easily back up your data. Burning movies is very easy, the 123 step approach the program takes make this a great asset and fun project for the family. The Photo-Editing solution is not inviting and not recommended, as I already use Photoshop Elements which is awesome enough to do what I want. But for simple jobs Easy CDs Photo-Editor will come true for many users especially as a bargain. Users who might want save a few dollars can look to the All in One solution,Nero 6 Ultra Edition, that has almost everything except the Kitchen sink. Overall, if you want the simplicity with extra tools that grow and expand into to other areas with you, Easy CD & DVD Creator, is certainly an easy choice.

This is probably the most user-unfriendly software Ive ever bought when it comes to creating music CDs. Everytime I needed to burn a music CD I had to go to the tutorial for the various steps. Version 5 was great compared to 6. The only problems with 5 is that it cant be used with Windows XP and you have to download a patch to fix the problems with it. I had no problem like others with installing 6. However some months after I did install it I started having problems with the drag and drop software. This is software that can be used to drag and drop any file (music or non-music) to burn a CD. It turned out to be a nightmare. CDs were not able to be finalized. When you install the drag and drop software it simply takes over for the CD burning method of Windows XP (which is far, far superior). I uninstalled the software and simply did a custom install by just installing the photosuite (the only useful thing in Creator 6).

This software came with my new Dell Computer and it has been a very frustrating experience. Dell DOES NOT give or offer any support for this software and Roxio will not give or offer any support either (unless you purchase it direct from them, then, I dont know). I was held on hold with Roxio for 1 1/2 hrs and finally gave up. For some reason, although you can compress the VHS capture source down to fit on a DVD (MPEG-1, and four more options), it still says that the files are too large to transfer. I bought the top-of-the-line Dell to handle all the system requirements. There was no manual that came with the software and the help menu was not informative enough. I have had my computer 3 weeks and have been off work during this time and still cant get it to capture all the time, or compress properly when it does work. I even went as far as buying a new VCR and a variety of cables (including Monster cables) in hopes that this would remedy the problem, but to no avail. And now, the video portion has finally stopped working. A waste of good money.

I have used Easy CD Creator since version 4 as well as Nero. Version 6 installed with no problem with my Windows XP Service Pack 1. It works with both the Lite-on 52x24x52 as well as my Pioneer DVR-105. I like this product better than the Nero 5.5 so far.

The maker neglects to mention that the CD inserts prepared and saved with Easy CD Creator 5 will not be formatted the correctly in this new version: youll have to recreate any jewel case inserts you have on hand. No fix planned, according to their customer support. Also, the memory leak problem from version 5 is still present in version 6. (At least, I assume thats what it is: after burning several CDs, open programs start to malfunction just as if there was insufficient memory, and sometimes I get an insufficient memory message.) Ive asked about this, but get no answer. Also, in the Label Creator, when you copy a picture object, apparently its copied to a clipboard within the program, rather than the system clipboard, so you cant paste it into (for example) MS Word. This is a pain as you try to recreate your label inserts.

I installed the product and it promptly screw up my entire system. It deleted files and made others unreadable. The product comes with a 390 page instrtuction book and if, by chance, you have a question not covered in the manual it will cost you $35.00 to ask that question, IF you can get a response. You CAN NOT get On Line Support of any sort. An attempt to sign into their site is greeted with a statement saying they have no record of your E-Mail address and cannot respond. Yet they keep sending promotional material to the same E-Mail address they have no record of. Save yourself Time, Money and A LOT of Problems - Dont buy this product!!!!!!
