> 3 dayIve read all the on-line reviews at Amazon, hesitated, waited, obfuscated... and finally took the plunge and bought ECDC6. Anyone whos used any previous version of ECDC shouldnt have any problem using this program. Once I ACTUALLY SAT DOWN AND READ THE MANUAL, I found that the program had an easy, intuitive interface, lots of functionality that earlier versions lacked... and, yes Virginia, it DOES run on Windows XP. (My computer is running XP Pro on a 2.4gHz P4, 512MB RAM and two hard drives totalling 240GB) The only reasons I dont give it 5 stars (actually, Im giving 4 1/2) are as follows: 1) After I upgraded from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows XP Professional, I had to remove ECDC6 and then re-install it (Windows XP told me to do this). 2) The functionality of the old Spin Doctor is lost. I should be able to remove crackles and pops from files recorded from a record, then re-save them. Can anyone suggest to me how to do this? Otherwise, I have yet to encounter any of the problems mentioned by folks in previous reviews. ECDC6 is running just fine for me.

> 3 dayWithout a doubt one of the worst products Ive ever bought and one of the worst companies Ive ever dealt with! First, I created a playlist, burned it to CDR and everything seemed fine. However, when I opened that playlist the next day the songs were not in the order I had placed them in, some were missing, and there were two nameless tracks added (with no information in them). Second, when I tried to edit tracks using Sound Editor I got repeated failure messages saying Unable to Open the File for editing. It would not even PLAY most tracks and I got a message saying In Use Elsewhere. The Sound Editor also repeatedly froze up during editing sessions, which were then entirely lost! Hours of work wasted! In fact, the software locks up often regardless of what feature you are trying to use. I contacted their so-called technical support (Ha!) by phone and email, but still havent heard from them. I didnt pay for this. If I cant return it for a refund its going in the trash - where it will be right at home! P.S.: I would not even give this turkey one star, but Amazon does not offer the option of giving less than one star!

Greater than one weekThis is among the best easy to use DVD and CD creation softwares. Unfortunately discontinued, I was lucky to get a copy here.

> 3 dayI bought this solely based on the Roxio reputation. I installed it, the DVDs I burned didnt work (it crashed). I spent serveral hours downloading the upgrades from the Roxio site, then tried it again. The DVD crashed still!!! The store I bought this from (Best Buy)does not take open software returns (none!) So I stepped outside then threw this entire package into the trash. I gave this product one star only because Amazon doesnt have a lower rating.

Greater than one weekRoxio is known for having bugs, but this program is the world class bug infested software of all time. I dont even know where to start. But suffice to say that I allowed the program to be updated last night and now the thing cant even format a CD-RW. It wont even print labels, even ones created with earlier versions of this product, and the label maker was traditionally the only bug-free part of the suite. I have never seen a more blantant disregard for customer satisfaction. Uninstalling it was one of the highlights of my life.

> 3 dayThis is great if you want to make vcds and copy cds and stuff like that, but if you want to make your own dvds you might want to search for something with a higher quality Mpeg encoder. I use this and Nero for dvd authoring, this is a good program because you can edit out commercials and trim video clips, you cant do that with Nero or at least I havent figured it out yet. My only real complaint is when I output to dvd the quality of the video looks more like vcd, a lot of pixelation occures when things move fast on screen. With Nero the pixelation is minimal but you need a pre edited file to work with. If anyone knows of a software that will give me the best of both programs share the knowledge.

> 3 dayHaving used version 5 Platinum, I was filled with joy to see the release of version 6. I probably should have saved my enthusiasm. Although I havent experienced any of the problems that Ive read about here as far as Windows XP goes, it runs flawlessly on my XP system and Im using it on a laptop. My issues are simpler. I just dont care for the way it works. Photosuite is worthless, Audio Central is ok, but you cant apply any effects (and there are several)such as the equalizer or any of the others unless you create playlists. If you want to listen to a few songs from your library, you cant apply the EQ without first creating a playlist. DUMB!!!! I still havent found an audio application that I like better than Musicmatch. I could go on, but if you dont have a real need to burn DVDs and you have version 5, stay there. I havent decided whether or not Im keeping this. Fortunately I bought it at Costco, so I have their liberal return policy on my side.
