21-11-2024I used this product for a lunch box/cooler. Very nice and durable but I think for the money you spend that there should be metal hinges that hold the lid on instead of plastic. The latches are metal but not the hinges…

> 3 dayThis has got to be the best lunch box I have ever purchased. it fits the large Gatorade (4) few snacks and lunch plus has a tray for other things like spoons, knives, phone charges, pocket knife, keys, wallet... the strap aint really worth a two-cent f#$^ from a midget, but it does work, just a little short. Im a traveling mechanic and this box has made my life on the road much easier.

> 3 dayI like everything about this box, holds ice pack frozen all day, stainless latches, but plastic hinges showing white stress marks. Still holding up but will eventually break.

> 3 dayI got the pink one and it’s way better than the Igloo pink one that is wayyy smaller and only a few dollars less. If you’re looking for a cute pink vintage looking cooler. I highly highly recommend.

19-11-2024This cooler doubles as a dry box so keep that in mind. If you’re wanting to maximize insulation and ice longevity this may not be you best choice. I did a test with a similar sized Igloo brand (16qt) with this Engel (19qt). The Igloo is about half the cost. The Igloo has thicker sides and this a bit more insulation. In three different test using frozen water bottles of the same capacity, the bottles in the Engel fully thawed before the bottles in the Igloo. Same environment and temperatures with coolers side by side. It wasn’t dramatic, just the bottles in the Igloo had some ice left 1-3 hours after the bottles in the Engel were fully thawed. That was a little disappointing. Having said that, the frozen bottles in both lasted almost 36 hours and I expect the cooler filled with ice would hold longer than a couple loose frozen bottles with all the space around them. I’m going to keep the cooler because it is well made and I can use it for a dry box. I bought it for day trips in my small boat so it will work well for that. Would also be great for day trips to the beach, overnight trips, picnics etc when you don’t want to lug a large heavy cooler. But if that’s all you need and if you just want a cooler, save some money and get a much cheaper Igloo 16qt. as you gain nothing and lose something buying the Engel including twice the cost. I gave four stars for well built.

> 3 dayI like the fact that the lid has a gasket and positive latches, to keep stuff out and in.(due to the fact I work in the 48217 zip code most of the time.) The outer shell seems fairly strong as I have dropped it a couple of times and it has not cracked yet. The insulation seems to be better people say. As well I’m in Michigan and thank god not Texas. So it keeps stuff cold enough for 12hr shifts. I normally pack one ice pack in the summer, 2-3)34fl Fiji waters 2)16floz energy drinks of some type (all beverages are kept standing) under the tray I put the ice pack, snacks, sandwiches or whet ever I’m bringing that day. I have been happy with it. Seems to get the job done well.

Greater than one weekIm a carpenter and I work long days, this cooler is the perfect size for my lunch, drinks, snacks and whatever else I need cold throughout the day. Its great, latches are metal, the body and lid are plenty sturdy to use as a seat and it seals very well. My only downside to this cooler is its a 1 day cooler, which is fine for a lunch box, but it doesnt keep ice more than 26 hours. I am going to drill a couple holes in the lid and spray foam it up. I have does this before and it makes ok coolers great! Just make sure you silicone the holes shut or it will mold. Yes i would buy it again. and again.

> 3 dayUse my cooler every day at work, most of the time 12 to 20 hour shifts. Live and work in Alabama, 90° and up most days. On average I fill my cooler with ice around 3 to 4 AM. Most days by 5 or 6 PM I still have ice left and my cooler sits in direct sunlight most of the day. Latches still work fine. One word of caution, you may want to use the shoulder strap that is included with the cooler. Though the handle never broke off the lid of the cooler did start to develop stress cracks where the handle pulls up on it. Not a huge deal, just installed the strap once that happend. Overall I am very satisfied with the cooler. I am very rough on coolers, throwing them in and out of the truck, stuff getting thrown on them while in the truck, and getting used as a chair from time to time, and I still use this cooler every day.

> 3 dayI bought this as a replacement for my husbands last one that he used every day for the last 5 or so years. Held up like a champ until the bitter end. He used it as a lunch box during the week and a drink cooler for the boat on the weekends. Engal will always be our brand because of how well theyve held up to our abuse for the last 5 years.

> 3 dayAfter two weeks of daily use I can say that this cooler is pretty good. It seems more of a dry box than actual cooler. Not so sure there is anything insulating it in the walls or bottom. The ice pack I use easily is felt through the bottom and transmits into wherever you place it. The inside tray is a nice feature reminiscent of the old igloo trays, it’s a good looking box.
