Epson Home Cinema 3200 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR

Projectors have to serve a lot of different needs. Some people need them to be used in a brightly sunlit room during the day. Others need them for 3d movies. Others need the projector for text and images. All of us probably want a great picture and large screen wow experience. I have a dedicated theater room that is painted with dark brown walls and ceiling and blackout curtains. It is like a movie theater. I do not have to worry about brightness of the projector. That gives me some tradeoffs with this projector. This projector is EXCELLENT for a bright room that needs extra lamp power to overcome the brightness. For me, that means I can run in ECO mode and the fan is reduced and the brightness is still very good - and my blacks are better too. This is a pretty good projector for a theater room setup. It is also pretty good for a sunlit room setup as well, but you will experience tradeoffs. By running in full brightness mode at an insane 2900 lumens, the projector can actually be functional in a bright room. The fan will run a good deal more, and it will be noisier to overcome this - but it is better than having a weak picture. The colors are bright and saturated and the image is CRISP and CLEAR. For those who care about the details, it is not a true 4k picture, but for practical purposes and to many people, it is so well done that it gives the performance of a 4k picture at a fraction of the cost. Right now, a true 4k projector is VERY EXPENSIVE. The Epson Home Cinema 3800 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR gives you the look and feel of a true 4k image without the obscene price of a true 4k projector. It is large too - in most installed setups, this should not matter. If you are carrying it around as a portable unit, this could matter. Overall, this is a great budget choice projector that can handle very bright room installations (think of a living room with windows that dont get completely dark or a classroom or court room or business conference room.) If you are a true aficionado of high end projectors, this may fall a slight bit under the top end projectors, but it also falls a good bit under the prices of those projectors. I have a lot of friends who have MUCH CHEAPER projectors than this, so it is a fairly upper-mid-range projector and you will absolutely appreciate the many extras and higher performance of this projector. It does 3D and it will absolutely handle a bright room - feature that a great many people need and wish for. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a GREAT PROJECTOR at a price point of around $1,500. I would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends and Epson is a great brand name and projectors are one of their EXCEPTIONAL product lines. One comment on that... Most companies are known for being really great at CERTAIN PRODUCTS. Epson is known for printer and another one of their excellent products is PROJECTORS. Right now, with the exit of Panasonic from the projector market, Epson is very possibly right there with Sony and maybe one other brand among the top-3 projector companies out there. You cannot go wrong with this projector in my opinion as long as you know the quirks and they dont affect your situation. This projector is excellent for what I needed for a basement home theater. It’s a quality piece of equipment.

Just buy it, but plan on having Netflix premium. You wont want to watch anything that is not Ultra HD 4K. I painted the wall with Behr silver screen from home depot. I have 134 inch picture in a 12 foot room. The picture quality is beyond amazing. I just hope this thing lasts for a while.

I ended up using a wireless HDMI cable. Wi-Fi connection requires a separate device and seems complicated. Otherwise it’s a great projector.

My TV is LG OLED and old projector is Optoma HD39Darbee. After I purchased OLED tv, I could not watch Optoma 1080p projector anymore. Enter Epson 3800. Now I do have a choice, I like both options, depending on the mood. What is interesting is that Epson3800s info section says it is 4K resolution projector. I tried ``True 4K Optoma Uhd38 and its info section says it is 1080p. HD39Darbee is actually better UHD38 in color and the resolution perception for me. But Epson 3800 is a principally refinement and is a clear motivation for me to move into the 4K area of projectors. The colors are outstanding, the resolution is excellent for me, not annoying, it definitely provides a 3D feeling to the 4K HDR picture. The setup is OK, a lot of lens shifting. So, if someone wants to move into the 4K area of projectors, Epson 3800 is my first recommendation (if not to look into $5000+ area).

4K picture is great

Sorry amazons, I am not really a person into the details of the projector for I my main purpose is to watch movies and sports. One good feature that I like is the Bluetooth. I have an old Denon Amplifier and did not want to run a cable by cutting thru the dry wall and all that pain so I purchased this Bluetooth receive and connected in a seconds. I tested the audio for a lag and personally I did not see any lag. The BT receiver is about 20ft from the projector and see no breaks in voice for now. My main purpose of writing the review is that I searched for BT devices that support the Eposn 3800 aptX Bluetooth technology and found no answers only to find this device and had it shipped overnight for a small fee. I started using a projector full time recently. My original one was inexpensive, but it was pretty good. I decided to upgrade to get one with more brightness. I wasn’t disappointed with my decision. It works great. I can even watch it with all my lights on in the room. Also, the remote works soooooo much better than the previous one.

I need to begin by noting that for the last couple of years I have been spoiled by mostly watching on a 55” OLED I purchased for my bedroom and I have to note that it is unfair in my mind to base a projector against an OLED screen. Although to black levels on the projector are as good or better than any I have used it could not possibly compare to the OLED screen I had become so accustomed to. Otherwise I am impressed by this units performance given its price level. I also cannot compare it to the new laser projectors which are far above the price of this projector. I own a large number of projectors or er the last 15 years and although some of the HD/3D units are very close to the picture quality of this one they all fall a bit short. What they do not have is bluetooth, which I was happy to see is included in this one. After spending several days watching about thirty movies and barring myself from watching my OLED screen I can say this far exceeds my expectations. I have enjoyed it so much that I began to use my home theater more and have begun to upgrade my sound system. If you are considering a first time projector at this price point then I do recommend this projector. If you are looking to upgrade to 4K but are not able to shell out at least two or three times as much money for a laser projector then I also recommend this unit. Update: After using for a few months it started making a loud buzzing noise whenever an image is projected. When it goes to no image it stops so its not the fan. Very annoying. Update 2: After using this wonderful 4K projector for over a year I have experienced just one problem, that until just recently I had no idea what was causing it. The problem was a very loud and annoying sound from the unit, especially when projecting bright scenes. The sound is difficult to describe in words and the best I can do is that of n electronic buzzing. If you are experiencing the same thing you will know what I mean. The other day I just got so fed up with it I decided to try again to see if I can do anything to stop it short of opening the unit up and playing around with something I am no way qualified to do. I decided to just change settings to see if anything made a difference. After about half an hour of switching settings off and on I finally hit pay-dirt. I have always preferred the “Dynamic Mode” setting for color mode. I changed it to Cinema Mode and played a movie that I had just experienced the annoying sound and to my surprise it was gone. It turns out that the sound is evident only when in the Dynamic color mode. Although I prefer that color mode the trade off in eliminating the noise is worth it. I hope no one else has experienced this problem but if so I suggest this as a fix.
