For years now I’ve been killing upright bag/ then bagless vacuums every 12-18 months. For context I have terribly expired carpet and two long haired cats. I’ve tried everything, every brand, but eventually they all bite the dust around the same time. I decided the try out a canister vac because I grew up with this style in the 80s and I thought that the lack of rotating brush might make a big difference. Boy was I right! First off this vac is easy to carry around and maneuver - no more lugging and pushing. Also - it gets into spaces the upright could never reach. What about the cat hair you may ask? With no rotating brush how does it do with that? It picks it up! And then any extra that gets stuck on the pads on the bottom - I flip it - pull it off and into the tube it’s sucked away. Easy clean up. No hacking at the rotating brush with scissors cutting hair off. The carpet looks amazing. I actually want to vacuum again. The retractable cord is quick and does not get caught up yet. Easy to dump the canister and keep going. Lightweight and flexible. I’m never going back to an upright again. If this one dies - I’ll update you and I’ll be investing in a nicer canister vacuum. Even though we grew up fairly modest there was reason my Mom had an expensive canister vacuum- it just took me till my mid-40s to figure it out! This is a great investment for a first time canister vacuum. So far so good!

I bought this Eureka canister vac after struggling with a standing Bissell for years. While the Bissell seems well-equipped for carpets, it (to my frustration) blew dog hair around on our hard floors, and tossed back out bits and crumbs instead of actually sucking them up. My parents recommended a canister vac for hard floors, so I decided to try this one as it was low cost and I could return it through Amazon should it not work out. Thankfully, after unboxing and using it to vacuum all of our hard floors today, I am pleased beyond belief that it indeed sucks up pet hair (the bane of my existence) with ease. It is also small and light. The dust cup is easy to empty after use, and it is satisfying to see all its sucked up in one go. I came across a wad of threads from a rope toy my dogs play with, and the Eureka sucked it right up, and I saw it immediately in the dust cup with the rest of the debris it had collected. Our Bissell could never. The swiveling head is convenient for getting into spaces our Bissell couldnt reach. The retractable cord is a blessing, though I wouldnt have minded the cord being a bit longer -- but it isnt a hardship to plug it into a different outlet as I go. It also seems a bit quieter than our Bissell. The on/off button is easy to tap with my foot, though you want to press it all the way, or else it will only start to come on or off but return back to its previous setting when you release the button. This is not a problem though, more of a tip to press it firmly enough for it to register. The Eureka has the best qualities of my parents old canister vacuum and the newer style vacuums, in that it is excellent at picking up hair and debris on hard floors, but is also less cumbersome and bagless. One feature of many canister vacs that deterred me was their needing bag refills. With the Eureka, thats not an issue! Overall I would recommend the Eureka to others with hard floors who struggle with pet hair. Our dogs shed year-round, and their fur is by far the biggest obstacle I have faced in vacuuming our floors. This vac makes eliminating dog hair easy. It does the simple task I ask of a vacuum: to suck up dust, fur and crumbs from the hard floors. Since I have only used this vac once, I will keep my eyes peeled for issues in the future. I am hopeful that it will stay a reliable cleaning tool for years to come.

Only one attachment is usable with the tube extended. It seems heavy-duty and generally heavy. The suction is excellent.

We have a busy home full of boys and this was the perfect addition to clean up daily. Easily stored. Empties canister with no fuss.

    Greater than one week

This is the most versatile vacuum. It is so lightweight, and the cord is hidden with the push of a button. It is superior at sucking up kitty litter. The canister is easy to remove with the push of a button, and you pour out the stuff, and replace the canister. No bags. I like this vacuum better than my upright Oreck.

I very rarely write reviews, but I felt obligated to do so today after using the Eureka WhirlWind that was delivered today from Amazon. Yesterday when ordering this machine after my 3-year old Bissell Zing finally bit the dust with the smell of burning plastic and loss of almost all suction, I was looking for a review like THIS ONE to let me know if I should buy the same Bissell Zing again (the devil you know) or try this Eureka WhirlWind out (the devil you don’t). For those looking for a fast answer, I will tell you right now, the Eureka WhirlWind won by a mile. This is a far superior machine and comparatively priced. For those who are looking for the reasons I feel this way I have quite a bit to write. At the beginning of the pandemic, 3 years ago, I was forced to downsize my living space significantly. I moved from a very large multiple level place to a small apartment of 500 square feet. Like everyone else during the beginning of the pandemic I was forced to buy pretty much everything online. When I moved into my new place I ordered 4 area rugs from Amazon and chose high pile shag rugs (all are in my photos) as well as a no pile indoor/outdoor rug for the bathroom. My old upright vacuum cleaner from the old place would have handled these rugs wonderfully, but it was too huge to store anywhere in my new place, so I had to give it away. What I needed was a small vacuum cleaner that could be broken apart in sections and stored under the kitchen sink. I found the Bissell Zing on Amazon and ordered it immediately. When it arrived it seemed to fit the bill. It was the right size and easy to store. But right from the first use on my high pile shag rugs and it was a struggle. The Zing was very limited- did not move easily along the shag rugs and really seemed to do a poor job. Vacuuming was HARD and it was not fun- it was like an aerobic workout and the rugs never seemed to be fully free of my cat’s hair and my long hair. Still it was all I had and I just lived with it. Also with the Zing, which is bagless, like the Eureka WhirlWind, the filter was a paper honeycomb-like thing, which I hated right away. It was not easy to clean at all. I truly hated cleaning that filter! So ok, that’s what I was dealing with and I vacuumed about once a week, hating the process. After less than a year the extension wand sections, which were plastic, began to crack. It may have been all of the pressure I was forced to use to vacuum the shag rugs. Maybe if I had just low pile rugs or floors that might not have happened. But it did. It made vacuuming ever HARDER. Oh, what a chore. I got out my friendly duct tape, bandaged the plastic and resumed and went on this way for another 2 years until yesterday when I plugged in the Zing and started vacuuming and heard an unhappy sound from the motor and smelled burning plastic. Then I lost almost all suction. It had been used approximately 150 times on the rugs and floors shown in my photos. I threw it in the trash. Since my main concern was being able to store it under my kitchen sink, I could find only 2 options under $100 here on Amazon- another Zing or the Eureka Whirlwind. I read all reviews for both. I knew the Zing quite well and knew it’s limitations and was scared to get stuck with something worse (god forbid!) but I went with the Eureka WhirlWind instead. Mind you, there are a million better vacuums out there & more money will get a better machine, but the Eureka Whirlwind is much better then the Zing for MANY reasons. First of all, it was simple & brainless to put together. I think the Zing was simple as well. But as soon as I used it today it was OBVIOUS to me how much stronger the suction was and I did not have to struggle in the same was as I did with the Zing to get it across my high pile rugs. It picked up MUCH more and I honestly think my rugs got the best vacuum they have ever experienced. They are cleaner with the WhirlWind and it was EASIER to vacuum with the Whirlwind. Other features that I found make the WhirlWind better: The extension wand is METAL with the WhirlWind, not plastic, like the Zing. So even if I had to apply the same kind of pressure, the wand is stronger and will not crack. Also, the cord is 2 feet longer than the Zing, meaning I only have to plug it in to one outlet to do my whole place. But another thing I find incredible is NO MORE honeycomb paper filter! Thank goodness! The filter on this Whirlwind is FLAT and appears so much easier to wash. Hallelujah. My vacuuming experience just now with the Whirlwind took 1/2 of the time than it took with the Zing and came out cleaner and it took less physical effort from me. So that is something you should know. This is an EXCELLENT low priced, basic, small vacuum. I will do my best to update this review only if something goes wrong and I end up hating the WhirlWind,, but so far I am thankful I did not get another Zing.

This is a great little vacuum. Easy and light. It filters very fine particles. I do recommend buying extra filters so you can have a clean one while the other dries out. I wish it came with a crevice tool but I do like that the tools it had are all attached in a way that I cant lose them. The cord is plenty long and the auto wind is great.

This my second vacuum of the same model . First one lasted ~4yrs with daily usage. This one seems as good as the first, but they put a shorter cord on it which is inconvenient. If you like a lot of attachments this isn’t the vacuum for you

Okay so this canister. Im a professional house cleaner, for the past 8 years and counting. I have used the eureka mighty mite for the majority of that time and, while its a great vacuum itself, the most common thoughts I had were, man I wish this had a retractable cord, and, wouldnt it be neat if there was a bagless option? And then lo and behold. Eureka answers my unspoken prayers like theyre some kind of mind readers, or Im not the only one with those thoughts. Lets start with the basics. This thing just looks sleek and professional. Its super lightweight, maybe even lighter than the mighty mite but I cant say for sure because that would require me to read the specs and Im not doing that. Ive used it a dozen times so far and I can easily cover a whole house without emptying the canister. The retractable cord hasnt failed me once. I love that the upholstery brush is attached to the hose and cant fall off and get lost in my car. I love that the wand is extendable and metal so it cant break like the plastic one in the MM. Its quieter than the MM. It moves across the floor easily and the adjustments for hard floor, carpet and upholstery are so much better than the previous guessing game on the MM. The suction power is amazing, it picks everything up the first go round and you dont have to repeatedly run over that one stupid leaf that for some reason just cant be recognized. Not with this thing, this baby picks it up first try. I have exactly zero complaints about this thing. Zero. It meets or exceeds all of my expectations for daily use. Seriously if someone had told me in my 20s that Id be borderline forming an emotional attachment to a vacuum in my 30s Id have been horrified. Yet here we are and when I tell you this vacuum is amazing..... Honestly its amazing.
