> 3 dayI had ordered these to preemptivly stock up and the price was good. When I recieved the blue filter pads I noticed these are knockoffs placed into the Fluval box. First I noticed these were flimsy and way thinner, whereas the authentic Fluval blue pads I already had on hand from a reputed fish store were thicker, sturdier, and tightly woven. The knockoffs are not cleanly cut as you can tell by the picture and are about half an inch small in diameter. They are also thinner than the authetic pads. Very devious and misleading as I paid for an item which I expect consistancy and legitamicy.

> 3 dayPrice of item is certainly fair and comparable to the stores where I normally purchase these from. Unfortunately, the bio-foam box itself is covered in greasy substance and coming apart. The two foam pads are wet and have particles of debris. For this reason I have rated the overall item poorly. I can not place this in my filter with the peace of mind that my aquarium won’t be harmed by whatever substance covers the box and filters. This may be a one off situation but quality control should be better.

> 3 dayThese work wonderfully in the Fluval FX5 - a long time ehiem fan for over 35 years Ive been using these filters for larger tanks (up to 300 gal.) in pairs and theyre incredibly effective especially for messy fish. Of course, nothing polishes the water like a Vortex Diatom Filter which can filter out debris and pathogens down to one micron in size but these are supplementary filters meant only to be used once in a while. These pads although not as effective will remove particles down to about 10 microns. I run four FX5s and replace these about every 60 days. Like the white foam which is for coarser debris its imperative to replace them or your GPH will suffer and the re direction of water flow not being able to pass through can result in ahigher degree of bypass - an inherant problem with the FX5s in general. These do keep your water on the pristine side and the value on Amazon is excellent.

> 3 dayIts a good product. Good for the Fluval FX5. Very dense filter. Cleans the water very well, but only downside is that it clogs quite fast. Not very fast, but it will clog and stop the water flow eventually. Thus you need to replace the filter pad a lot. It cleans the water better then other pads or filter floss. But, I am trying filter floss now instead of this so I dont have to replace the pads so often. Also, theyre difficult to clean out because once theyre dirty then its pretty much impossible to clean them and its better to just replace them.
