Good sharp quality router bit. I use nothing but Freud router bits in my woodshop. I consider them to be the best value for the money. Ive never had any issues with the ball bearings on any Freud bit. I always get a nice quality cut with no burn marks. I would definitely recommend these router bits to a friend.

Worked very well with a clean smooth face on the cut.

I have an ever growing collection of Freud bits, blades and tools and as always, this one is awesome. I am making all my trim in my house out of black ash and Im using this bit for the edges. It is the first chamfer bit that ive used that didnt burn at all on end grain.

I used this bit to contour the edges of a set tables with tops made of 5/4 sugar maple. Worked perfectly. Cut cleanly with no burn. This is a big bit! I had to make a custom plate for my Porter Cable handheld router to accommodate the bits diameter. I was concerned that the fixed speed of the router was too fast for this size bit. It was not a problem. Other reviews indicate that the bit is so big that its dangerous. Just slow down the feed rate, make successive shallow cuts and everyone will be fine.

Routing has always been a gut wrenching idea to me. It is the one part of a project that most likely can not be fixed and is typically where the eye is drawn. I finally decided to route a desk I made and this bit made it absolutely amazingly easy. My first time routing and it was like butter. The project came out way better then expected. I only needed to route 8 edges so I can’t say what long term life this bit has but for the 15 feet or so i needed to route it worked flawless. I routed resin and honey locus, only one long edge was resin, the rest was wood.

Excellent router bit. Finish was perfect for glue up and blow out was minimal without support. I use this bit to make mitres on small boxes and it performs really well. The size of the cutter will cope with a variety of work pieces and allow the chamfer to be created in one pass. I had to make a router plate insert to allow for the cutter diameter, it is big.

1-5/8" (Dia.) Chamfer Bit with 1/2" Shank

From the Manufacturer

Freud"s precision ground carbide bits have a grain size smaller than other grades, and titanium is added making them impervious to chemical attack. Promoting safer woodworking is the reason Freud made a commitment to develop anti-kickback router bits. Bits are computer balanced to insure vibration-free operation at speeds that are a safe margin above the typical 22,000 RPMs of most routers. Freud"s philosophy is woodworkers should expect safety, not pay for it. Carbide length 5/8-inch, angle 45-degrees, shank diameter 1/2-inch.
