The wider bottom makes it so Ill never tip it over no matter how hard I swish around my brushes. And the ridges on the floor clean my synthetic brushes well. Everything else about this is gimmicky, unnecessary and overpriced.

Im new to miniature painting and I never expected to buy this, just use a cup or jar right? Then I saw a review of this online. Pros + The edges on the side are very nice for helping clean your brushes out + The flaps, or whatever you want to call them on the bottom are extremely handy for deep cleaning your brush + The groves to help shape your tip are nice, dont use them often, however + Shape makes it harder to tip over Cons - Price (after shipping by the current seller) - Hard to clean

First impression, water capacity is significantly smaller than I expected, smaller than a mug, so I have to change out the dirty water frequently. Maybe not a bad thing if you want to take breaks a lot for the sake of your health, but its inconvenient and not really an upgrade from what I was using before. The deep grooves along the back of the cup which are intended to draw the hairs into a point, I never use, since I wipe my brush on a paper towel to remove excess water and form the point. The ridges up the walls inside of the cup, not sure if they help too much, but I never use them either. The deep ridges along the bottom of the cup, I never use with my layer brushes unless I want to ruin them, but they are really good for deep cleaning less fragile brushes (like synthetic brushes and dry brushes). The tapered wide-bottom shape is nice in that its hard to knock over on the table top, but not so nice in that its easy to slip out of your grip on a trip to the sink (unless you hold it up from underneath). The notch along the top of the cup holds a brush, and is pretty nice. Its molded as a single piece of polypropylene plastic, and its form is hollow so that it can be stacked.

theres not much to say, it does a great job holding enough water in place so you can paint and not worry about it tipping over. its a solid cup and does what its meant to.

It may seem a bit pricey for something you essentially have around your house in the form of a jar or any other container. The Citadel water pot though has a few extra bells and whistles that kind of make it worth a purchase. The pot has ribs inside and on the bottom. It also has a few grooves along the side to help work water out of the bristles of your brush. Though if your brush is on the smaller side? These arent going to be as effective. The pot also has a recess on the top that allows you to lay your brush or brushes in. This helps keep them ready at hand. If you are painting you dont want to put your brushes bristle down and let them in the pot.

Yes I used a simple cup before like every other person in this hobby. So why did I pay for an overpriced cup? Because its awesome! The inside has edges that are real good for getting the paint off your brush, also the inlets used to help narrow the bristles are awesome. If you enjoy this hobby of painting miniatures, just buy it, your doing yourself a favor and youll be happy you did.

This thing is great. You might be thinking Why should I bother paying $10 for something I can use an old mug for? It has a lot of really useful features. The ridges on the side and the bottom are terrific for keeping brushes clean, much better than just a strong swirl used to get me. The grooves on the side re-sharpen your brush. Its not magic: if you have an old crappy brush, its not going to suddenly spring back to new, but a quick swipe keeps a brush with a fine point from spreading out over a painting session. Lastly, the wide base keeps it from falling over easily. No one wants mixed paint stains all over their table.
