I live/cycle in both the US and the French Alps. I decided to try a Varia because one of my French friends has one and likes being alerted when a car is approaching, when we are blasting down tiny mountain roads. I wasnt sure that Id like it because its larger than a standard rear light, and because Im a diehard Wahoo user. However, I was pleased to find that the Varia interfaces perfectly with my Wahoo Roam, it has a long (~12hr) battery life, and it points out approaching cars at a distance of 150-200 meters, long before I can hear them. I wasnt sure that Id like this thing but as someone thats been hit/hospitalized by cars (twice!) I now consider it an important safety tool.

I cant believe Ive been riding for so long without having digital eyes watching behind me. This device is a life savior and detects oncoming traffic behind you for almost a mile away. It sees multiple cars with status alerts being displayed on the mobile app or any Garmin computer device. I highly recommend this product. Dont ride without it! Well done, Garmin!!!

Despite cycling in the city, the RVR315 does a good job to let me know how many vehicles are behind me. Good to have its assistance to complement the side mirrors.

If you ride your bike on the road, you need this radar. It is nice to know when cars are coming from behind to know when to check mirror. It is like blind spot monitoring in a car.

This is a GREAT product. I feel much safer knowing when traffic is coming from behind me. I love this addition to my Edge 520.

I had my first ride with the rvr315, it warned me every time a car is overtaking me , it warned me about multiple cars, no missed or false alarms , now I’m a million times safer on the road. It alerted me long before I heard the cars coming. I can go on forever. I’m using it with the iPhone app , I wish I had bought it years ago .
