Would never be without on the road

I ride a Cervelo P2C equipped with an Edge 130 Plus on open roads without much traffic. There are sometimes intervals of sixty or ninety seconds before I am passed by a car or truck. The device makes me aware of traffic behind me long before I can hear it, and it has never missed a vehicle. I can see that it could be distracting on busy roads, but for the kind of riding I do I very highly recommend it.

Very easy install and sync. Just remember to sync as a light and not just a radar. The radar is surprisingly accurate. I ride with a mirror on my sunglasses and have yet to have the radar miss an approaching car. Distinguishes cars from bikes accurately. I am definitely addicted to having this data while riding solo on country roads. I feel much safer now. Worth the expense for the peace of mind.

I had been running a Cycliq rear camera/light combo, and in less than two years that thing crapped out on me and Cycliq wasnt real helpful on working with me to replace it or fix it. So I went a different route, and man am I glad I did. The Garmin Varia radar is a godsend. I will never ride the road bikes without one of these again - I was instantly converted. It gives such a heads up that you know cars are coming well before you see them (and I constantly keep a quick check behind me). It hooked right up with my Wahoo Roam head unit, alerts you when cars are behind you, how fast they are coming with color coded bar, how many cars there are, and relative position to you - all with an unobtrusive bar on the left of the Wahoo head unit. If you ride alone, this thing is a definite must have.

This is incredibly easy to install, use on iPhone and seems to works every time there’s traffic behind my bike. Great peace of mind, a must have if you ride a bike.

Have been very surprised at how super useful the radar function is. It works very well and gives you a much better overview of whats going on around you as you dont have to turn your head back nearly as often. Also, even in the very heavy traffic I often ride in, my Garmin shows enough info about the relative distance and speed of approaching cars and motor bikes that I feel a lot better able to gauge the traffic situation around me. Originally I thought I would have it off inside the city - but I always have it on. Also like how you can set it up for daytime/nighttime strength etc. Never ride without. Some people are worried about the rubber bands that keep the unit into place. Made me worry too. however, I ride some VERY rough roads and also flipped my bike once after being swiped by a car :-( -still the Garmin unit is sitting there safe and secure while my water bottles exploded around me. Fortunately theyre a lot cheaper to replace. Highly recommended.

I am a amazed at how much this product enhances my riding experience. All those times where you need to look behind but its tricky because you are going fast downhill or concentrating on grinding in a climb are eliminated. One glance and you can see if there is a car coming up behind you. Huge safety boon. I highly recommend it!
