Garmin Edge 830, Performance GPS Cycling/Bike Computer with Mapping, Dynamic Performance Monitoring and Popularity Routing

I Purchased this 830 as an upgrade from my 800 I’m so glad I did. it updates much faster it has built-in memory.

Perfect. Spend a little bit more and buy a 830. Touch screen is really worth it.

I moved to this as soon as it was released since I was growing weary of the touchscreen and speed of the 820. It is a big step up and the slight size increase is welcome. I also like the more positive opening/closing of the USB door for charging.

I purchased the Garmin MTB package. The package was missing the speed sensor.

I washed my beloved Garmin 500 accidentally and needed a new computer. I looked at all options and decided that the 830 was the best choice. Having had this computer for 6 months that remains my opinion.

On the one hand, its great to have all this information available and when it works its great. But, there are so many settings that it takes quite a while to understand everything. Intuitive, its not. The other problem is with losing connectivity. It doesnt happen a lot, but when youre out there workin hard and suddenly something quits, its really annoying. It seems that there are no recovery processes built into the software either because the only way to get it working again is to cycle the power. For such an expensive device from a well-known manufacturer, Im really disappointed.
