i like these and they cut well...i am also new to applique and embroidery. But i get as close as i can even with these and i still have some edges left showing on designs sometimes....so i went even closer and the shield does not always protect i cut the shirt ): they work but i wished they were smaller to maneuver better

Wonderful addition to my collection, Ido so much sewing this is so helpful not just for appliqué but for all your close sewing needs. Very sharp ,would suggest this to all sewers no matter what your sewing enjoyment is.

I am new to applique work in quilting and quickly discovered that my wonderfully sharp and comfortable dress making scissors literally cut --too well. After ruining a couple of appliques, I talked with some vets who advised getting some applique scissors. At first they felt awkward because the blades are so different from what I was used to, but now I love them! I can trim into the most delicate corners with ease and without worrying about nips and cuts in the wrong places. Definitely a good investment if you are doing any applique work.

I got this for my mom as a Christmas gift. I havent given it to her yet, but I think shes going to like it.

Like many sewists, Im always looking for THE scissors, the ones that will cut like butter - Ive recently taken up machine embroidery and was struggling a bit with applique, I had a couple of pairs of applique scissors, but they just werent the one. These Gingher scissors are absolutely PERFECT - unbelievably sharp, get super close to your stitch line. Im now saving up to buy other Ginghers - definitely a worthwhile investment.
