I love the variety of flavors and these are excellent pre-workout in the morning before the gym. I definitely feel an energy boost and I am not as sore as I am without it. If youre not used to these gels, they can initially be a turn-off, but now I love it. This is my favorite energy supplement so far.

I use these when I suddenly become hypoglycemic. They bring my sugar up to a level that allows me to get it back under control without needing a hospital visit.

I do triathlons and IRONMANS and GU is by far my go to. Some people dont like the texture or that you need to drink water with it. I love it for those reasons. Its not like a drink so a little chewing but I like that and the water I rinse swoosh it around and it give me the energy I need.

I havent tried too many of the other gel products on the market, so this review may not have much context. However, the Gu gels have been great for my needs. I first tried the sampler pack, with a variety of gel flavors, and settled on the Espresso Love flavor. Im currently training for the Chicago Marathon, and Ive had Gu with me since my first long run of 6 miles. I recently finished a 20 mile run with 4 gels in my fuel belt, and Ill say that these things are a necessity for any run over an hour. The espresso flavor is pretty tasty and has a bit of a savory flavor. Recommended if you are a runner logging long miles.

I always used to think that all these energy products were a scam and they would give no energy while riding. But then one day I purchase a pack of GU espresso love from a local shop. I used the Gu 40 miles into a 70 mile ride. it was a hot day and I was feeling very tired. I took out the pack of gu opened it up and took a gulp. The consistency is kinda weird, but not bad. And what really surprised me was the taste. It tasted very nice and I actually liked it. After 10 minutes I was feeling much better and I felt more energetic. The gu helped me a lot and I easily made it to the end of the ride feeling fine. I have tried Hammer Gel espresso but it was a little too thick, but it did have a more natural taste. But I am sticking with this stuff, it really works. Only CON: You have to open the packet which might be a problem if you cant no hand or ride with one hand on a bike. Not a problem for me, but might be for some.

My husband and I ordered these in the midst of marathon training. The GU takes a while to get used to... initially the gel made me gag, but after a couple tries, I had the technique down and always look forward to GU time on my long runs. This GU gives you enough energy to push over your wall and keep running. I prefer GU to other energy gels like Glukos energy gel (which is really a liquid and I always spill it or choke on it). The espresso flavor is my favorite (and Ive tried them all), its like a dessert mid-run :)

The gel consistency was odd for me at first, but the flavor is good enough for this to overlook & by the 3rd packet I was used to it! I definitely feel a difference if I don’t take this for my weekly HIIT workouts. I’m definitely buying it again! Best flavors are espresso and caramel in my opinion :)

I’m pretty bad at fueling during my long runs and usually procrastinate until I crash. I did an impromptu marathon without running longer than 12 miles in months. I drank a pedialyte the night before as recommended & started fueling around 5 miles. The first GU I took was without caffeine, then every thirty minutes or so I consumed the Espresso Love flavor GU (which has 40g caffeine). I sucked on it over a period of miles (with sips of water) until I finished it. I had 5 or 6 GU’s total for my marathon. I never crashed or hit a wall, although I was running with a friend for their first marathon so I was going slower than usual. I never had GI issues, I believe because I took these slowly. I also alternated between Gatorade & water at the aid stations, focusing more on water because I figured I was getting enough from my GU’s. I’m not a fan of the fruity flavors but I’ll be buying cases of the Espresso Love flavor. I believe they were a big factor in making this marathon go perfectly.

GU Original Sports Nutrition Energy Gel is the energy gel that started it all. In 1993, Dr. Bill Vaughn developed the world"s first energy gel to help his daughter perform better during ultra-marathons, and GU has been helping to propel the world"s most successful extreme athletes to success ever since. GU Energy Gel sustains all forms of athletic activity with a highly compact, portable, and calorie-dense packet that is loaded with carbohydrates that can be rapidly absorbed. Branched-chain amino acids limit muscle fiber damage and increase speed of recovery, and extra electrolytes help maintain water balance. Some flavors feature caffeine to increase concentration. While the original formula has been tweaked and evolved over the years, the end result is still the same: GU Energy Gels fuel the best endurance athletes in the world. GU Original Energy Gel comes in a wide variety of great tasting flavors. Each packet contains 450mg of Amino acids, 100 calories, and at least 21g total carbs.
