The solder dispenser that came with my cheap Chinese soldering rework station is a pain to use, comes apart when you pull on the solder. When I saw this suggested item on Amazon, I wanted to get it. It has a decent amount of weight, so it is going to stay put when you pull on the solder.

Solder for a living, this is a must. I use mine for ROHS and Lead. Very heavy and well made.

Also got this idea from another reviewer only difference is I use 12 gauge copper solid wire to hold my alligator clips I soldered the clips on the wire and have about an inch to inch and a half stick out for. The stand is heavy which is a very good thing because it does not tip over when pulling out fresh solder from a fresh roll. Thin solder can be pulled easily on the supplied plastic spindles, which are easy to remove and replace from the rear. If your solder is breaking youre pulling too fast. Assembly is easy and Hakko includes a exploded view for assembly. If you cant assemble it you probably should not have a hot iron around anyway. I keep it on my workbench, so I cant say anything about the handle other than it has one. It also has a ground screw which is a real bonus for using with a anti static grounding mat. The cheap stuff often uses the word professional when it obviously is not, but the Hakko actually is.
