I wondered the diff between Odor and Allergy. Nothing only shows the real difference, Odor Eliminator includes a slip of paper that shows the filter life of odor is 4 months & allergy is 12 months. Makes the Odor Eliminator a lot more expensive in life time money. Allergy is better unless you have bad odors.

Overall my satisfaction with this product is not a hundred percent. The main issue I have is there a 12 month rating on this product. My Holmes Air filtration unit has just informed me to change the filter. This is not only irritating because it has not been 12 months since I have installed the filter, it actually has been less than nine (about seven but I cannot remember exactly). The second reason this is irritating is that I never really use my filter on high. The unit is almost 97% of the time in the one position, or low depending on your unit. The third irritating fact is that I use the arm and Hammer filter overlays that capture most of the large particles that coming to the filter, so it is not as if the filter is the only thing solely filtering the air. I have included a photo of a new and old filter Im sure you can guess which one is which by the color. I do have a cat but then again this product is rated on the packaging to be suitable under its twelve-month rating with animals being a primary use for this product to eliminate dust and dander cause by them. This product does not 100% eliminate the dust in my room (a 12x14 foot area with carpet) therefore I cannot say this product is satisfactory. I will give it the benefit of the doubt that my morning allergies have reduce significantly and I do feel much better about the cleanliness of the air in my room. Im not sure if it is a psychological effect, but the room does feel cleaner.

After 2 years of using my Holmes HEPA air filtration system it has definitely stood the test of time against dust, allergens and even pet orders but this very morning it may just have saved my life! Unbeknownst to me as all the house was sleeping and I was preparing For an early Sunday morning arrival at work a beast of stench was cooking in my very bedroom. As I exited the shower a faint noise could be heard from outside the bathroom door, I shrugged it off assuming our cat Miss Skittles had a case of the early morning zoomiez little did I know that muffled sound was the beatboxing rear end of the very man I loved steaming underneath our covers a culmination of last nights mixture of stouts and cloudy pale ales mixed with the remnants of the previous nights questionable $4 meat special that was repeating like a cheesy pop song on local radio, but….. as I slowly and quietly entered the bedroom and leaned in for a morning kiss I was greeted with a smile and compliment and how amazing that filter is! The room smelled as fresh as it had upon exiting!! This air filtration not only saved my life but also my relationship :)

I have been using a Holmes Desktop Air Purifier for about a year and a half now. I am a smoker, (disgusting, I know) but I cant stand for my house to smell like smoke. I use this in my office, which is the only room in my house that I smoke in. Quite a few non-smoker friends have come over and none of them have been able to smell smoke in my office. I thought about it too late or I would have snapped a picture of the old filter before I threw it away. That would have shown you just how well these work!!! I have used the Smoke Eater filters that are quite a bit more money than these and in all honesty, I really havent seen a lot of difference. They may work a bit better, but not enough to justify the price difference. Also, I have shopped around, and this is by far the best price I have found on these filters. Like most things that are good quality, they are pricey. At least I know I am not throwing money away! These filters do everything they say they do.

We just changed the filter for the first time after 4 months of continuous use, and WOW, the proof that our Holmes was doing its job was obvious since the filter was filled with junk. We replaced the old one with the new one in about 30 seconds and we were again good to go for another 4 months. Highly recommend Holmes HAPF30AT Air Filter.
