> 24 hourI bought this kit and used it 2x on my CRF250r. No problems at all except you buy tons of shims and only need like 2. Basically, it saves you the trouble of opening up your bike, THEN running out to Honda and HOPING they have the shim(s) you need. If youre gonna do shims, youll need a micrometer like this one; http://www.amazon.com/General-Tools-001-Inch-Graduation-Micrometer/dp/B00004T7UD/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1356827905&sr=8-2&keywords=micrometer I believe this is the one I have. Its fine for the $. The only issue is, its in inches and the shims are in mm. No big deal. I did the job in inches, figured what I needed in inches then searched the box using the micrometer to select the proper shim. Its easy, you can do it if youre handy. Follow your manual.

> 24 hourSo many different sizes allow me to be precise. Give me a good foundation to get things started I can always order specific ones that I use more of.

> 24 hourDid my first valve adjustment with these. They fit my 2006 Yamaha YZF-R6r @ 25,000 miles great. I measured about 20 of the shims with calipers and they were all spot on. High quality, have put several thousand miles on the bike and it runs better than ever.

> 24 hourKit had all the shims I needed to shim the valves in my 2006 Yamaha FZ1. Have put several thousand miles on it since I shimmed the valves and its definitely running smoother/stronger. The shims are all labeled by laser printing which helps a ton, and I measured quite a few of them to be sure they were accurate, and they are.

> 24 hourIt would be nice if there were a little tighter tolerances with the shims but they work. It is much easier to go with a kit like this than mess around with pulling the shims, going to a dealer and getting them one at a time. I ended up ordering a restocking kit for the range that I use the most of so that I had enough. When you have a V4 bike with 4 valves per cylinder, there are not enough shims to complete the job if you have a few cylinders in the same range. After borrowing this kit a couple times from fellow bikers, I broke down and bought my own kit.

> 24 hourA few things to consider about the Hot Cams shim kit. 1) Quality control - I got this shim kit and it was actually missing the sizes I really needed. They had filled some of the bins with the same sizes as the bins next to them. Also kind of makes me wonder how accurate the shims thicknesses may actually be. I had to send it back because I couldnt use it for a valve adjustment. 2) Quality - Cant find any information on the hardness of these shims. Will they last like OEM shims or wear out slowly and change the adjustment? 3) Shim Size range - While technically some of these shims ranges will fit my motorcycle upon further review of the service manual I found that over half the box would not be an option for my bike, because I would technically need to do valve work rather than use shims larger than size x. 4) Quantity of shims - If youre adjusting a 4 cylinder you may have potentially 16 valve/shim combinations. This kit only has 3 of each size. After sending this kit back, I purchased a KL shim kit also available on Amazon. It cost about twice as much but I think its a better deal because: 1) Shims are made in Japan. 2) Shims meet or exceed OEM hardness. 3) Narrower range of shims can be selected so the entire kit is usable on my particular motorcycles. 4) Five shims of each size, really nice when there are 16 valves. Even though the KL kit cost more, you get what you pay for. More shims in the sizes I need and probably better quality. This is the KL kit I purchased but there are multiple size ranges so be sure to check your motorcycles service manual to see which kit may be best for you.

> 24 hourUsed in my 14 Ninja 300 after 30k miles of not being maintained. The shims accuracy was usable, I checked each one with a micrometer and was able to account for the very minor differences between the shims, and used that to my advantage to cheat up or down the gap. Definitely recommend a kit over buying individual shims, I did have to go back and redo a valve or two to ensure proper clearance, but was able to get the job done nicely.

> 24 hourIve used this kit on about 3 different dirt bikes and so far so good. accurate on all planes too. anytime theres something wrong and i try to blame it on the cams turns out I messed up and the cams did fine. having 2-3 cams per size is great to.
