Consumer Outlook
> 3 dayI normally like the build and quality of HyperX headsets, but this one falls short. It’s at best a $50 headset, not $150. Way overpriced. Here’s why: 1) It’s heavy. I weighed it at nearly 400g, which is heavier than my other headsets. Including the HyperX Cloud Flight S and HyperX Cloud II Wireless. That’s crazy considering those contain batteries so in theory should be heavier, right? Nope. And that’s not including the weight of the USB audio control mixer which hangs off the cable. 2) The suspension headband is flawed. It has extraordinarily little tension and isn’t strong enough to support the weight of the earcups. As such, when I put the headset on, the headband pushes all the way against the frame, causing the earcups to go further down than is comfortable. I constantly find myself trying to re-adjust only for it to move back down. 3) It’s not comfortable. After a few hours of gameplay, I found my ears were hurting. 4) If you shake your head from side to side, the headset jumps around. And if you look down, the headband falls slightly forward. It doesn’t hold solidly like other HyperX headsets I’ve had. 5) The NGenuity software does not recognize the headset nor the USB audio control mixer. Meaning, there’s no software support or tweaks to be had. No game-chat balance. No mic monitoring. No turning the 7.1 surround sound on/off thru software. You can only minimally control it through the attached USB audio control mixer. 6) The sound quality is subpar. If you want to use these to listen to music, you’ll be disappointed. The treble is muffled/dull (not crisp) and the bass is mediocre. That’s when in standard mode. When in 7.1 mode, the treble is a little cleaner, but the bass mostly goes away (which is good for gaming, not music). There’s no equalizer to tweak this to get better sound quality. Not without using third-party software. 7) There’s no mic mute on the headset itself. Only on the USB audio control mixer. So, if you use this headset without the mixer (such as a console), you can’t mute it. Plus reaching down the cord to press the mute on/off can be challenging without looking (eyes on the game). 8) The USB audio control mixer has a clip on it as if designed to attach to clothing. There’s no good way to attach it to your desk. As such, it slides around and often hangs down adding more weight to the cord. It’s really limited when comparing with the 7.1 USB Audio Controller that comes with the Razer Kraken Tournament Edition. Not only does that have game-mic balance, bass control, and can be customized and controlled by software (for additional features like mic sensitivity, sidetone, and EQ) but is less expensive. That said, it’s not all bad. I found that the 7.1 mode, while playing FPS, worked decently. I was able to clearly hear the positioning of footsteps. And because there isn’t much bass in 7.1 mode, the sound of guns and explosions wasn’t overwhelming. I had considered using the 7.1 USB audio control mixer with a more comfortable headset, but it’s still not anywhere near as good as Razer’s 7.1 USB Audio Controller. (Right now, my ideal setup is to use Razers 7.1 controller with the Bose gaming headset). In summary. This headset isn’t comfortable and is too limited. Not worth the money IMO and there are better--and cheaper-- options out there. HyperX missed the mark on this one.

Greater than one weekIn terms of sound quality, it satisfied me. 7.1 surround sound works pretty well. The bass and the high sounds were great in my testing. For me, it is great both for gaming and for music although I know it is not the best of the best. In terms of build quality and look, it seems a bit cheap. It is heavy. I understand it is a gaming headset but the design could be a little simpler. In terms of comfort, I am satisfied. I am not a heavy gamer and I am not wearing it for hours but I can say that up to one hour it is comfortable. However, it does not fit my head perfectly and it is somewhat loose. I have a smaller than average head and this may be the reason. Overall this is a great headset for most gamers in my opinion.

> 3 dayThis headset is a step backwards from the previous generation. There is no Dolby DTS integration. There is no equalizer for the headset as of yet, and the sound definitely needs to be recalibrated. I did not have a chance to review this for long, because the headset keep drooping down my ears as the headband does not have sufficient resistance to keep the cups up. I would not recommend this iteration of this headset and would instead recommend the previous version, the HyperX Cloud Alpha S which is both better designed and has better audio integration.

> 3 dayReturned these after using them about an hour, the directional sound is indeed great, but activating the 7.1 surround sound makes everything sound watery. The sound overall just is lackluster, no depth to it such as bass or highs. Just as well, the mic on them is worse than a backup 30$ headset (4/4 people noticed the difference straight away on voice chat, and recording in OBS was a chore to get my voice to sound understandable). More so, I have tolerant ears but these things made my ears sweat after just a couple of minutes, theres no way I could use these for any extended period of time. Not worth the price, at all; theres no software to support these, either.

> 3 dayi had a dongle issue where when i would turn on my pc, the headset wouldnt get power. so i would have to turn on my pc and wait a couple of seconds and then plug in the headset for it to get the power. may just be defective one. but it is a thing to keep in mind. other than that, sound quality is phenomenal, especially for gaming and comfort is 100% great!
