> 3 daySo I had this SSD for about 2 months now, and I can tell you this... Once you switch from an HDD to an SSD, theres no turning back. This SSD isnt the fastest or most reliable, but if youre looking for something to replace a laptop HDD or just want fast cheap storage, this is the best bang for the buck (unless you wait for the 2TB one to drop in price). This suited my needs of just replacing the HDD in my laptop and making it feel tons faster. The difference is insane, as I just wait 5-10 seconds for my PC to boot, rather than the 5-10 minutes it used to take to have Steam, Discord and the other applications ready to be used. For gaming, its great. Games are notably faster in load times, such as Final Fantasy taking less time to load worlds and such. I use to have issues where my HDD would be capped out in how fast it can work, now the SSD barely gets to 30% usage when installing games. However, I do have to say to not install this on any PC, because it depends on your CPU to make the most of it. Since I have a laptop i5, its not the smartest choice as my CPU at times cant keep up with the speeds. Other than that, its a solid SSD.

> 3 dayI bought this to replace a smaller evo m.2 that housed my OS. I downloaded the Intel Data Migration Tool off of the Intel site and it was great. Fastest, easiest, cleanest transfer Ive ever done. Plus the software is free as long as you have an Intel drive. If youre worried about the performance of the drive compared to other ssds, dont. It is just as fast as my evo was and because of the extra space, my system is speeding along. I used my second M.2 slot on my MoBo and the whole transfer of my boot drive and files around 220GB barely took 2 minutes. The longest part of switching drives, was turning off my pc to install and uninstall ssds. After I used my pc all day for some work, I transferred all 92GB fallout 4 to it from a much slower sata drive in 2 minutes, watched the read and write speeds and the 660p wasnt breaking a sweat, just waiting for the poor sata SSD to read the files. So I played Fallout 4 for an hour just so I could give the for gaming 5 stars. I forsee no issues with the drive and I will give an update later on down the road as to longevity. I also recommend getting the Intel SSD toolbox to keep the drive trimmed and firmware updated, its another free program on the Intel site. TLDR; Get the drive its fast and big, use free Intel Data Migration Tool to upgrade to this huge M.2.

> 3 dayI’ve abused the heck out of this thing. Nvidia ShadowPlay has basically constantly been recording to this for 3ish years now. Drive health is at 95%. Literally no issues. Plenty fast for daily use. If you don’t need bleeding edge stuff, you won’t notice a difference between this and a Samsung 970 Evo or whatever. I’d know, I have one of those as well lol. If all you do is game, this is still a great SSD. I’d assume the newer versions of this are probably worth having a look at.

30-11-2024Just died this morning with No warning or blue screen of death. I found that the data disk was not initialized. Earlier this week I checked for firmware updates and ran a manual trim performed a full diagnostic scan and all went well. I was able to reinitialize and format the drive after but now I am tasked with finding the backup for this particular drive. I should consider raid 1 for this ssd but that would require me to buy another. I will not be recommending this ssd to my clients unless the price comes way down so I can buy 2 and mirror them.

> 3 dayThese 660p SSDs are excellent both in performance and price. I had to purchase 4 of these and if Id paid what the other higher-end NVMe drives were going for Id have invested a small fortune. Some of these 2T drives are going for $500 +/-. I got all of these drives for about $200, This gave me a fast OS, and about 6T of striped, very fast storage. At least its a huge leap in speed over a 7200 spd platter drive or even a SSD. Granted, as I mentioned above, you can get faster drives but the price almost doubles and you would never realize/notice the spd difference without doing a benchmark.

Greater than one weekThis is so wrong I just got my stick today, using an m.2 to pcie adapter on my z97 mobo with ****Windows 7******. First of all my system does not recognize this drive at all, I flashed the newest bios but it doesn’t work either. After some digging, MS has released 2 hotfix years ago to add native driver support in nvme in win7. Patches is currently unavailable in MS website, you can download them via 3rd party maybe. KB2990941 and KB3087873 After up to date, my new drive finally shows up to me, I run an ancient crystal disk mark on it, and the results is like emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I have a laptop(Asus scar ii) installed with a 512g 660p, you guys can compare these results , I just have no idea why it run faster in fossil hardwares.

> 3 dayI bought the 2TB Intel 660p NVMe SSD, new, from Amazon Services, Inc. (not an other seller). Reviews indicate it has an OK buffer size, with SamSung and even HP a little better. However, the price is stellar, and its still faster at any of its speeds than my prior device. I was a little worried because of some claims that their new device was mislabeld. The package I received had the safety tape cut already. I was worried. I inspected closely, and everything was correct. No fingerprints, no damage. When I installed the device, it said power cycles 2, power-on hours 0. Hardware ID is Intel SSDPEKNW020T8, and size is 2 TiB. Now that my concerns were assuaged, I used Macrium to clone. Cloning from my old drive pushed 430GBytes in 45 minutes. Macrium claimed 1.3GB/sec. Swapped the device, and re-enabled BitLocker, reinstalled Steam, etc. So far, performance is great. Its been 3 days, and backups are fast, games load fast, etc. I was on NVMe before, so I didnt expect to notice any difference. I do. Its not as much as the difference from HDD to SSD, but it is like the difference between SATA and NVMe. So, as a reminder, every few years, check performance for the next generation of SSDs. If your system supports it, and you run any demanding workloads (VirtualBox/VMWare, gaming, etc), then consider an upgrade. UPDATE 2020-02-07: the performance is still about the same. 7300-7900 read iops and 9-15k write iops. Bumping up the queue depth brings that into the 30-90k range. Throughput is int eh 1300-1500 range on read, and 790-1700 range on sequential writes.

26-11-2024If youre wondering why this is comparably cheap compared to other M.2 SSDs, there are a couple very good reasons. First is that it uses quad level cell nand, which is the slowest version of MLC memory and has the lowest write endurance limit, meaning its slower when copying very large files and has a much shorter lifespan than SSDs with other memory types. Its not like theyve stated otherwise though, and for anyone not constantly copying large files it shouldnt make a difference and would probably be worth the value. Second and biggest reason is that youre probably buying used through amazon. I can see other reviewers saying the same thing, but when it arrived I noticed that the factory seal had been peeled off and badly pasted back on. The fact that theyre selling used or refurbished SSDs as new probably isnt strictly legal, but I guess Im a pushover for not wanting to go through the return process so long as it works normally and I dont notice that the product itself has been tampered with. I checked with Intel to make sure the 5-year warranty still applies, and it seems like theres no issue there.

Greater than one weekBenchmark-wise, this Intel SSD performs decent -- about 1900 MB/s for both read & write. Real world copy test shows about 1100-1300 MB/s for the first 20 or 30 seconds, then it slows down to anywhere from 100 - 350 MB/s. I dont know if its throttling due to temperature or not, but it cannot sustain that 1000+ MB/sec write throughput. Temperature idles around 34-deg C and gets up to 50-deg C during heavy write operations. For the price, it still an excellent buy.

> 3 dayI must say that Im extremely happy with the price the performance and how easy it was to install it ! I have used two different adapters Sintech NGFF M.2 nVME SSD Adapter Card for Upgrade 2013-2015 Year Macs(Not Fit Early 2013 MacBook Pro) and Cablecc 12+16pin 2014 2015 to M.2 NGFF M-Key SSD Convert Card for A1493 A1502 A1465 A1466 both adapters work perfectly installation is a little bit different especially the way you fix it into the motherboard but no problem with it either I decided to keep the first adapter that I mention it here now. I am a heavy duty user or 3D applications like blender 3.0.1 which makes the machine get hot and so do not Forget to put a heat sink on top of the SSD (QIVYNSRY M.2 Heatsink NVME 2280 SSD Heat Sink Support Single Double Sided M2 SSD Cooling with Thermal Silicone Pads Cooler for Computer PC PS5 PCIE NVME or NGFF SATA M.2 SSD Installation, Black) I also bought extra memory all the way up to 64 GB (OWC 64.0GB (4 x 16GB) PC3-14900 1866MHz DDR3 ECC-R SDRAM Memory Upgrade Kit, ECC Registered, (OWC1866D3R9M64), Compatible with Mac Pro 2013) I also have replaced the main CPU with a 12 core (Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 Twelve-Core Processor 2.7GHz 8.0GT/s 30MB LGA 2011 CPU BX80635E52697V2 (Renewed)) here are the screwdrivers that use to assemble and disassemble my Mac Pro Torx Screwdriver Set,TEKPREM 8 in 1 Security Torx Screwdrivers with T3 T4 T5 T6 T7 T8 T9 T10 Torx Bit,Complete Torx Repair Kit for Mac Mini,iMac,Xbox Controller,PS3,PS4,Computer and Pocket Knife also do not forget Corsair XTM50 High Performance Thermal Compound Paste | Ultra-Low Thermal Impedance CPU/GPU | 5 Grams | w/applicator to Bond the SSD with it and afterBond the SSD with with the adapter all these items where very cheap at the time that I purchase everything but now the price is a little higher. But either way this update totally makes sense compared to what you would had spend at the time of buying the computer with this configuration at Apple when the computer was available, its totally worth it!. All the components put together makes a very powerful computer. I recommend doing the upgrade it work flawlessly ! I add the descriptions of the components that I also got at Amazon I am very happy Cheers !
