I’ve bought 2 of the same exact heat mats to use with my ball phytons. One has been working great for the past 4 months. The other randomly stopped working about 2 months after purchase.

I had to buy a heat lamp to accompany it because it couldnt get the tank hot enough.

Does not bring heat gage up what so ever a total waste of money . We placed it on the side not the bottom due to it being on an antique table . Directions tell u to put on side if table a special table. Waste

Ive been really pleased with this product for keeping my leopard geckos warm and happy! Highly recommend using this product with an actual thermometer because it can get hot with out one, and is too risky. Also remember to make sure there is ventilation under the tank to also prevent overheating. My geckos soak up the warmth from this all day. Would recommend!

So yes, I know with heat mats its almost a necessity to have a thermostat. However in quarantine (due to COVID19) the one I had ordered had not arrived yet so I thought itd be ok to leave my snake on half the mat for a few days until thermostat arrived. (she was due for a meal, was fed, and needed heat to digest) Boy was I wrong. I went to check on her the next day and she had pretty serious burns on her stomach to where her skin was peeling off in places. Shes a ball python and will very likely live but when I say its not good, its really not good. She has a cool side but did not move from the warmth. Be warned that when purchasing this without anything to control the temperature YOUR PET COULD FRY. I am in tears. I know Im probably at fault for misjudging and should have just waited on the thermostat but I also feel like there should be more proper warnings to pet owners about the NECESSITY of having one. These mats get EXTREMELY hot.
