> 24 hourI was pleasantly surprised on how well this unit performs given that it lacks the advanced mapping features. Pros - it doesnt get stuck... often. - it does a decent job cleaning the carpet and the smooth/hard surface flooring - noise levels are good given the size of the motor and the fact is is a vacuum - alerts you via push notifications on your phone in addition to the unit speaker when it gets stuck, lost or has another problem - Picks up all of the kibble my dogs drop around their bowls and keeps on trucking... Cons - Lacks advanced mapping features so it must navigate the home blind and learn on the fly each time. This feature is available is more expensive models so this con is not a surprise. The negative is that in order to get this feature on the iRobot it requires a model that is $300+ more expensive than the 692 - The dirt trap is too small, you will need to empty it after EVERY job. Maybe this will improve over time as it is getting under tables and places my upright vacuum could not reach. The unit may be finding honey holes of dust and dirt for the moment, but in either case, emptying the trap is easy and quick. They do make units with the ability to dump the trap into a larger trash can built into the charging station, but that model is $300 more expensive. For that price, I will empty it myself... - The 692 model has a hard time finding its way back home to charge. Ive tried a couple of locations for the base in an effort to improve on this, but it fails to find its way home more often than it succeeds. Summary : For the price I paid on Amazon Prime days ($199) I feel like the 692 is a good unit. It has its quirks, but at under $200 I feel it was a worthwhile purchase. I wish it has the advanced mapping features, but in no way would I say those are worth a $300+ upcharge to move to the 900 series models. Time will tell how well it continues to function, but I would definitely recommend this an an entry point model to see if you are happy with how it cleans before dropping substantially more money on a better model. Im happy with what the unit can do and was aware that it was basic in nature so the quirks were expected.

> 24 hourConstantly gets stuck, clogged, or runs out of battery before it can crash its way back to the charger. It just randomly drives throughout the house like its blackout drunk. Areas of a room cannot be programmed to be avoided, so furniture that is just the right height to squeeze under, but too heavy to squeeze out from under, or outlets with power cords that cannot be kept out of its way, or doors that are easy to shut all become problems as this thing smashes into them all and never finishes a job successfully. UPDATE with MORE issues that I didnt mention on the initial review: This thing appears to seek out problems to be created for you. Its very noisy, and when I happen to be around when it runs its schedule, I usually determine its too noisy to let it continue and try to send it back to its charger. But if its more than 5-feet from the charger or not pointed directly at it, it has no clue how to get back there. It wanders around aimlessly as if I never tried to send it back. When it gets to its charger, it has often moved it around the floor enough, pulling it away from the wall such that it will never be able to dock itself on the charger. If it runs completely out of battery, good luck getting it to charge again! It needs to be lined up ever so perfectly that it is extremely difficult to do so by hand. It practically needs to line itself up. If its off by a millimeter it wont charge at all. Rugs are completely off limits for this worthless machine. Some I have are light enough that it tries to vacuum them up and gets them jammed into its gears. Others have patterns on them that are incompatible with its programming, somehow making it conclude that it is surrounded by cliffs, and it gets stuck on them every time never cleaning them at all. If you have certain rooms or areas of a room that you want to keep it out of because it has problems there, it is a massive headache trying to find any workable solution. Any obstacles that I try to put up it views as a challenge to be overcome, constantly smashing into them and attacking at different angles until it finds a weak spot to be exploited. Usually it gets past my best effort, but if it doesnt there is still an annoying obstacle in a passage way that I need to step around that the Roomba cannot. Finally, I would be remiss to not mention to never consider buying one of these if you intend to have a new dog in the house! On multiple occasions it has found a mess left by my dog in training before I could. It doesnt see something thats sitting an inch higher than its brushes as something to be avoided, it sees it as an enemy to be pushed around. When it comes across a fresh pile of poo, it goes over it as many times as its mechanics will allow. Smashing it down and spreading it all across the floor. Getting it mixed up into its wheels, brushes, and gears and leaving me with hours worth of cleaning of the mess it spread across the floor and within itself. If you have money to waste, get a few of these things for friends who you dont want anymore. The cruel joke will be realized soon enough and they will all stop talking to you altogether.

> 24 hourOverall considering the price am very happy with my iRobot purchase. Likes: - Very good vacuuming and suction over various surfaces - Excellent battery charge. It lasts at least an hour - Powerful and speedy motor. It definitely runs faster than its rivals that I have owned before - Overall pretty well made. Dropped it a couple of times with no issues Dislikes: - It sometimes can get confused and vacuum the same area multiple times. Sometimes stairs confuses it enough to require attention. On the other hand it keeps trying to vacuum areas that are blocked off. However, these are mere annoyances - Some parts like the dust bin door are flimsy and can break. Be careful when opening the dust bin door to empty it. Slightly bend it from the middle to release the door - Dust bin could be bigger. Keep an eye on it as if it gets full, this iRobot may not vacuum as well

> 24 hourI am new to Roomba but I am forever a fan. It has made my household chores a breeze. I love that it is able to sweep and vacuum under my bed. I love the scheduling feature and it’s capabilities to connect to my Echo. It is by far one of my best purchases.

> 24 hourThe 692 is a great robot vacuum that is easy to get setup and works well. Its a great starter vacuum that has good suction and will run for 90 minutes before needing to recharge. Our main floor is 1700 square feet and it really struggled to clean it all. We block it into half the house and run it, then recharge it and let it run in the other half. The only real disappointment is charging. Many times it wont find its way back to the station to charge and will stop somewhere in the house, out of battery. And when it does find its way back, it will rarely charge. The contacts for charging are too sensitive and if I dont clean them after every cleaning, then it wont charge while docked. In effect, this eliminates the ability to rely on it to run on schedules, as it may not charge while docked and be out of battery when its scheduled to run. Otherwise, very pleased with this purchase, but will buy a more advanced version in the future.

> 24 hourIts programmable so you can set and forget; however, it gets caught on any cable and loose rug. When it doesnt get stuck, it sweeps well and Im glad every time because I hate feeling things when I walk barefoot. We run it once daily in the morning as we wake up because its noisy and crashes on everything before turning, so better to run it when were already awake or out of the house. Its smart enough to avoid falling down the stairs. I bought it like-new on discount. I wouldnt pay full price tho.

> 24 hourI am very pleased with my vacuum. It does a great job on my hardwoods and transition well three to the rugs. It’s very easy to clean once your finished vacuuming. Comes with great filters that are easy to clean as well.

> 24 hourOverall I like it, it does a really good job cleaning and makes sure to get every inch of the floor. However if I try to send it home early, it takes another 30-45 minutes before itll go home, and my app doesnt always work. I have my notifications turned on and havent gotten a notification in weeks. Also, when I go into my app now it just says connecting instead of at home, in a job, stuck on a cliff, etc. But it still goes out and cleansing and does it well!

> 24 hourI debated buying one of these robotic vacuum cleaners for years. I was deterred by the price, and also overwhelmed by the variety of models. I finally bit the bullet and bought this model, since it was on a price deal of $199 and offered me 5 interest free payments. Deal! The set up was quite easy! I downloaded the app, and let it go. I named it Hazel and off she went.... and bumped... and did all kinds of willy nilly zig-zagging. We have laminate flooring throughout the majority of our 1200 sq.ft. home. Hazel had trouble navigating underneath my dining room table-- as the design was too narrow for her to get underneath. The chairs were also a maze to navigate, and she kept getting stuck on the corner of my couch. Ive since had to put a stool in that area, so it doesnt get stuck. We have thick carpeting in our master bedroom, so I wasnt expecting much. I was impressed that Hazel went underneath the bed (a place I rarely ever vacuum) and did a pretty good job in that room. We have an area rug in our living room, and its no problem going from laminate floors to the rugs. I love that! Hazel has some difficulty returning back to home base, but Im guessing thats because it has to navigate past my dining room set to get there (I need to figure out a new place for home base). Once the job was completed, I was amazed at how much dog hair and dust was in there. LOTS!! Thats the real reason I wanted a robotic vacuum... our short-haired dog sheds lot. My hallways doesnt have that dirty/dusty look any longer. Of course, I still have to run my bad boy vacuum cleaner! However, Hazel does a pretty good job of maintaining dust and dog hair free floors. I just hope that Hazel lives a long life, because shes a good little helper.

> 24 hourHere are a few tips if youre thinking about getting a Roomba (which you should!) 1. Wait until Prime Day or an equivalent sale. I bought this model for $220 (tax included). If you live in the Seattle area, watch out for the Amazon deals - Amazon vans will park random places for one day only to offload products at a steep discount. The Roomba is a regular for that rotation - Ive seen this model sold for $140. 2. Do not buy cheap knockoff versions for replacement parts on Amazon. Buy only iRobot products (from them directly if possible). There are a lot of versions of fake products from Chinese companies sold on Amazon. These parts are crappy and could impact the performance / lifetime of your Roomba. One example of that is the replacement air filters. The cheaper versions do not seal correctly, so dust gets into the small cracks and other mechanisms within the machine. Replacing your vaccum will cost a lot more than a $10 air filter. 3. Clean your air filter with a toothbrush after each use to reduce the clog of dust. Replace the filter every 3 months. 4. Do a deep cleaning of your Roomba every 6 months. Use a mini flathead and a small phillips to take off the front cover (youll need to take off the small, yellow spinning brush first using the small flathead). Be careful because the threads of the tiny screw are mounted in plastic casing. Very easy to strip. Clean out all the hair around the small screw that attaches the spinning brush (after 6 months, this can cause the brush to stop spinning - 90% of the time, its just hair - side note - this motor is also replacable for only $15 on the iRobot website). Ive noticed a fair amount of negative reviews discussing the shelf life of Roombas. People are making comments like My cats killed our Roomba etc. Id like to set the record straight for this awesome company. Basically, in life, you cant get things for free. You cant expect your car, for instance, to function well over time without regular maintainence. Most people hate car maintanance, so it has become widely accepted for most people to pay someone to fix / clean their car. And, for most people this makes a lot of sense. Wed rather spend our time doing other things besides changing the oil, checking the tires, checking the radiator, maintaining the engine and so on. For vaccums, the mechanics are much less complex than a car. However, they still incur a ton of wear and tear like dirt, cat hair, female hair, dust, and eveything else that lands on the floor. Over time, even the best vaccum will break or need repairs if it is not well maintained. In the old days, we had vaccum repair shops because people hated working on their vaccums. Then, everything possible became automated and outsourced. We could have Roomba repair shops that cost $30 to do a tune up of your Roomba. People would probably pay it. But, rest assured, the same people complaining about paying for that would be the same people who complained about the amazing Roomba - the vaccum that does its job with very little work from the human. The only thing is doesnt do well is clean itself. What we need is a cat Roomba. My closing thought is this one. Spend one hour every three months maintaining your Roomba, and you will save yourself 50+ hours a year (a whole work week) of vaccuming. Thats very simple math, but it will require some effort on the part of the human. I purchased mine on Prime Day 8 months ago. I did my first deep clean (along with the regular air filter cleaning with each use) and she is gently purring like the first day I discovered her :-). I do not own securities in iRobot or work for them. This review is completely of my own writing.
