I feel it does a decent job of picking up light debris like pet hair but not so great with food crumbs. Also, if you set it up in an area where it can travel into and out of different rooms, it only returns back to the charging base (on its own) about 60-70% of the time.

I was pleasantly surprised on how well this unit performs given that it lacks the advanced mapping features. Pros - it doesnt get stuck... often. - it does a decent job cleaning the carpet and the smooth/hard surface flooring - noise levels are good given the size of the motor and the fact is is a vacuum - alerts you via push notifications on your phone in addition to the unit speaker when it gets stuck, lost or has another problem - Picks up all of the kibble my dogs drop around their bowls and keeps on trucking... Cons - Lacks advanced mapping features so it must navigate the home blind and learn on the fly each time. This feature is available is more expensive models so this con is not a surprise. The negative is that in order to get this feature on the iRobot it requires a model that is $300+ more expensive than the 692 - The dirt trap is too small, you will need to empty it after EVERY job. Maybe this will improve over time as it is getting under tables and places my upright vacuum could not reach. The unit may be finding honey holes of dust and dirt for the moment, but in either case, emptying the trap is easy and quick. They do make units with the ability to dump the trap into a larger trash can built into the charging station, but that model is $300 more expensive. For that price, I will empty it myself... - The 692 model has a hard time finding its way back home to charge. Ive tried a couple of locations for the base in an effort to improve on this, but it fails to find its way home more often than it succeeds. Summary : For the price I paid on Amazon Prime days ($199) I feel like the 692 is a good unit. It has its quirks, but at under $200 I feel it was a worthwhile purchase. I wish it has the advanced mapping features, but in no way would I say those are worth a $300+ upcharge to move to the 900 series models. Time will tell how well it continues to function, but I would definitely recommend this an an entry point model to see if you are happy with how it cleans before dropping substantially more money on a better model. Im happy with what the unit can do and was aware that it was basic in nature so the quirks were expected.

I wanted a robot vacuum forever before I purchased this one on a Prime Day deal. Everyone raves about them. So far I feel like it is a waist of money and not worth the hype. The longer I have it the more I am certain that when it dies, I will not replace it with another… I chose this one based on the sale, the fact that it doesn’t require the ap to operate and that it will sense a staircase and turn around. I didn’t want a useless piece of junk once the app became outdated, or a pile of pieces after it cartwheeled down them. At its current rate- I doubt it will work long enough for that to be an issue. Overrated and not worth the hype. Pros: Easy to use without the ap. Does great at sensing a staircase… Not once has it fallen down mine…. Both were features I specifically wanted in a robot vacuum. I can run it while doing other tasks and have a cleaner home when I am done. Cons: It WILL error out and get lost in your house. It is loud. VERY loud. Gets the home “cleaner but not clean. It misses A LOT… Something about its programming sends it to the same areas over and over and over while it misses about 50% of the house. It does great at cleaning the edges and under furniture but fails to get the middle of the room clean. Not once has it ever gotten the middle of the room entirely clean. Not once. It runs for hours doing what I could do in about 20 min - but then I have to spend about 15 min cleaning up what it misses so I am not convinced it is really a “time saver” for me. It is NOT consistent. I have hardwood floors with a large area rug. One day it will clean stripes through the rug - the next it can’t “climb” the rug and will turn around at the edge. Some days it will go across it - other days it gets to middle and turns around. This is a very low profile rug. Some days it can’t climb the run but has zero problems trying to climb the baseboards or the wood base to the floor lamp. Both of which are MUCH thicker than the rug. Some days it will dock itself - others it will run until the battery dies. Some days it will clean the kitchen floor - other days it misses the kitchen entirely. Some days it will clean the entry way 5 times - other days not at all. Not once has it gotten the center of the living room clean. Not once. It does leave clean stripes through it though. Between crumbs from kids, fur from pets and my dusty climate - the floor gets dusty looking quickly. Some days it will clean all the edges of the room - another it might miss one wall entirely. The app: So far the only use I have found for it, is to turn the thing off when the pets sit on it an turn it on. You can turn it on/off with the app - You can also schedule cleaning it with it is too loud to run at night (seriously I can hear this thing running even if I am outside my home doing yard work). I’ve tried to run it while we are not home - but each time I try that it gets lost somewhere with a dead battery and I have to go searching for it. Often I find it under furniture or in a corner “stuck”. Some days it can clean under chairs just fine - others it gets “trapped” under them and can’t get out. The version this vacuum uses DOES NOT map your home or let you set areas to clean. The app and the robot struggle to talk to each other and often have to be restarted. It is easier IMO just to reach down and hit the button. The app does track the number of times you use the vacuum even when not started with the app. It is a bit rough on the legs of wood furniture. Many of the legs of my chairs are starting to show missing finish and bare wood where they constantly get bumped by the vacuum. According to the app - I have used this 47 times. I dont feel like that is very many times for furniture to start looking dinged up. I don’t hate it bad enough to resell or return it -but to do it again - I wouldn’t purchase it.

I brought this robot as a gift for my mother and the two main reasons I purchase this product was 1) my mother is not tech Savvy so I was very happy that this did not require WIFI to operate and 2) that it came with a remote control (So I thought). unfortunately, when she opened the package I come to find out there was no remote control (disappointed in myself since after reviewing the product description I realized that I may have made a mistake in thinking that it came with a remote control, again this was an oversight on my part that may have happened while was doing research on the difference robot vacuums that would best fit for my mother). Stating this we decided to give it try since on of the main points was NO WIFI NEEDED. in the box was the charging dock, charging cord, one brush, owners manual and of course the robot itself. it recommended to charge for 1hr before use to which we did or at least tried to but the minute we put it in the docking station five minute later the light that said it was suppose to be charging turned off we tried again by lifting and resetting on the dock but again after five minute it turned off (so assuming that it was already fully charged)pressed the clean button and it stated right up. one thing we noticed was the suction power was chefs kiss I mean I could feel the blower from across the room. Another thing we noticed was that it was compact enough to fit under our dining room table legs (odd shape table that had three pieces set together on both legs in a triangle shape, best way I can think to described it -_- sorry) anyway even with its small size it picks ups a lot dust/filth. Stating all this one of the main issues we had with it was the tendency to get stuck/tangled on either loose or frayed carpet and if you dont keep an eye on it will destroy the carpet as once the ends get wound in the brush it will continue to pull and may very well end up destroying your rug carpet. Another small issue or maybe a quirk was once it got to the wall molding it seems to be trying to climb up on it but again it maybe how it was design to be able to get to all the nooks an crannies (again it was just odd but I thought I would mention it anyway). Last thing I wanted to say about this product was the fact that I was very simple and easy to clean, the parts (Both brushes, rubber winder, dust collection pod) came out smooth and with no hassle and can be put back in fairly easy. So because of this I would say its a fairly good product (as long as you dont run it on frayed carpets, long loose hair, and anything that can get tangled within the brush) price wise it was a good deal since I got it during the holiday season ($175). Durability seems pretty standard as long a you keep up with the maintenance of cleaning it out after every use since its not self cleaning (we have used it about 5 times now since getting it and suction is still strong hopeful it stays that way). would recommend but still bummed out that it didnt come with a remote and even after 4 uses it refuses to charge for more that five minute (charging light goes out -_- maybe its suppose to be that way since we are not using it through WIFI) still working through that issue (want to give it a real chance before making a decision on whether or not to send it back). hope this helps anyone reading this make a decision on whether or not you get this product for your family/household.

Here are a few tips if youre thinking about getting a Roomba (which you should!) 1. Wait until Prime Day or an equivalent sale. I bought this model for $220 (tax included). If you live in the Seattle area, watch out for the Amazon deals - Amazon vans will park random places for one day only to offload products at a steep discount. The Roomba is a regular for that rotation - Ive seen this model sold for $140. 2. Do not buy cheap knockoff versions for replacement parts on Amazon. Buy only iRobot products (from them directly if possible). There are a lot of versions of fake products from Chinese companies sold on Amazon. These parts are crappy and could impact the performance / lifetime of your Roomba. One example of that is the replacement air filters. The cheaper versions do not seal correctly, so dust gets into the small cracks and other mechanisms within the machine. Replacing your vaccum will cost a lot more than a $10 air filter. 3. Clean your air filter with a toothbrush after each use to reduce the clog of dust. Replace the filter every 3 months. 4. Do a deep cleaning of your Roomba every 6 months. Use a mini flathead and a small phillips to take off the front cover (youll need to take off the small, yellow spinning brush first using the small flathead). Be careful because the threads of the tiny screw are mounted in plastic casing. Very easy to strip. Clean out all the hair around the small screw that attaches the spinning brush (after 6 months, this can cause the brush to stop spinning - 90% of the time, its just hair - side note - this motor is also replacable for only $15 on the iRobot website). Ive noticed a fair amount of negative reviews discussing the shelf life of Roombas. People are making comments like My cats killed our Roomba etc. Id like to set the record straight for this awesome company. Basically, in life, you cant get things for free. You cant expect your car, for instance, to function well over time without regular maintainence. Most people hate car maintanance, so it has become widely accepted for most people to pay someone to fix / clean their car. And, for most people this makes a lot of sense. Wed rather spend our time doing other things besides changing the oil, checking the tires, checking the radiator, maintaining the engine and so on. For vaccums, the mechanics are much less complex than a car. However, they still incur a ton of wear and tear like dirt, cat hair, female hair, dust, and eveything else that lands on the floor. Over time, even the best vaccum will break or need repairs if it is not well maintained. In the old days, we had vaccum repair shops because people hated working on their vaccums. Then, everything possible became automated and outsourced. We could have Roomba repair shops that cost $30 to do a tune up of your Roomba. People would probably pay it. But, rest assured, the same people complaining about paying for that would be the same people who complained about the amazing Roomba - the vaccum that does its job with very little work from the human. The only thing is doesnt do well is clean itself. What we need is a cat Roomba. My closing thought is this one. Spend one hour every three months maintaining your Roomba, and you will save yourself 50+ hours a year (a whole work week) of vaccuming. Thats very simple math, but it will require some effort on the part of the human. I purchased mine on Prime Day 8 months ago. I did my first deep clean (along with the regular air filter cleaning with each use) and she is gently purring like the first day I discovered her :-). I do not own securities in iRobot or work for them. This review is completely of my own writing.

My girlfriend has one of these from a different brand and I saw how good a job it does keeping her floors clean, so I decided to pick one up for myself. Roomba was really easy to set up and get cleaning—it paired with my phone without any trouble (unlike some smarthome devices Ive used) and connected to Alexa easily too. When I first ran it it had some trouble because it sucked up some Christmas ornament hangers, but it was very easy to remove the roller and clear the jam; since then its worked great. I think mine does a better job with obstacles than my girlfriends does, since it only seems to get stuck on the stands for my guitars and the heating vents in the floor. This one doesnt have any fancy floor-mapping, so I cant really complain about its routing, but it seems to cover the whole apartment without any trouble on one charge (about 90 minutes). At first it had difficulty getting back home but for whatever reason its gotten better at that lately—maybe there is some kind of mapping or homing function? In any case its doing a great job keeping my floors clear of dust and dirt, even in high-traffic areas like the kitchen. I bought mine at a substantial discount—these things go on sale all the time, I presume to clear out overstock since they release new ones at a good clip—and it was definitely worth the $180 I paid for it.

After a few uses its brush got stuck and was moving. My husband has to open and reinstall the brush part. Hopefully, it will work without getting stuck. I liked my old model of Roomba model more than this one.

This is the lower end Roomba so it doesnt learn and have a pattern. I think it cleans very well. I have stopped watching it and rely on the app on my iphone. I still wouldnt leave it running when Im not home. I have had a small problem with the charging which I think the Roomba help line will solve if it continues.

I picked up the 692 because it was suppose to be great with dog hair. I didnt even have a huge job for it: one 400sf room with medium pile carpet where our two Anatolian Shepherds hang out during the day. Right out of the gate, it became clear that this vacuum simply cant handle pet hair on carpet. It didnt pick up all of it, and part of what it did pick up was left in two neat parallel rows behind it. (And as anyone whos had a Roomba problem will tell you, Roombas support is the absolute worst.) Theres just no point in using it for pet hair on carpet, because youll end up vacuuming the next morning anyway. Unable to return it without paying a ridiculous restocking fee (my fault for buying something that wasnt Prime-eligible), I moved it to the hardwood floors in our dining room. It does a decent job there, although I still have to regularly untangle pet hair from the undercarriage. Oh, and about once every four days, its high-tech cliff sensor fails and it gets stuck on the edge of the step down from our dining room. Pros: - Reasonably quiet - Bump-and-go seems to work fairly well (although has become stuck under a chair a couple of times) - Useful app - Decent cleaning on hardwood - Edge brush works well for floor edges on hardwood Cons: - Useless for pet hair on carpet - Cliff sensor doesnt always work - Requires regular manual cleaning of pet hair from undercarriage - Having to manually take the filter out and knock dirt off it when emptying is annoying
