KA1214-BRK USA Fighting Knife, Steel

Great knife for a good price. Highly recommended.

KA-BAR makes some of the greatest products in the world. This is a very sharp and well balance knife that is also lightweight. Locks well in its sheath and can be sheathed for quick access no matter how you carry/mount it or what hand you use. The tang on this model is a little thinner/smaller than the other more expensive models but that doesnt take away from quality and I dont foresee this ever being a problem with the usefulness/effectiveness of this knife in practical or combative applications. Perfect knife for anyone needing a well built and trustworthy tool or weapon.

First of all, the model I received was a 1211 not a 1214, as represented by Amazon (I have messaged Amazon about this discrepancy). Having that out of the way, I can say I have no major complaints about this purchase. I do wish Amazon had a price matching policy as I paid $65.18 for this knife back in April and it is available today for $54.60. Not very happy about the nearly 20% difference in cost:) However, none of that is why I docked it a star...The reason for the rating is because the knife arrived with, essentially no edge! Seriously the blade, from the serrations, thru the belly and up to the point, was not sharp at all, not even close! The serrations were even more disappointing as it seems they never saw any attempt at finishing / sharpening. Not what I expected after reading most reviews. After sharpening the blade I am satisfied that it will at least cut paper and am overall pleased with this knife. It meets my expectation for a rather large, fixed utility/fighting blade. I expect it is heavy duty enough to survive significant abuse and I do like the feel/grip of the handle. Not sure how well it will perform in the Zombie apocalypse but for now I consider it a good addition to my collection. Correction 7/5/2013 - My opening comment about the model number demonstrates my ignorance of Ka-Bar model numbers. Whoops! The stamped number on the knifes blade is 1211. If you order with the leather sheath the item is a 1212 and with a glass-filled nylon sheath, a 1214 (which is what I ordered and received - sorry Amazon).

Excellent knife . . . once I sharpened it. When I got this knife I was expecting a well sharpened knife (like my Kershaw) that would be ready to use right out of the box. Sadly, the knife I received was dull to the point of being practically useless. However, after sharpening the knife I have been extremely pleased with its performance. I would highly recommend this knife to anyone as long as theyre willing to spend a fairly large amount of time sharpening theyre brand new knife.

Knife is sharp. The handle is comfortable and it is a really solid knife. This is my 3rd KA-Bar. All have met the standard.

Well made beautiful knife!

I havent really used this item much, but it is sharp as a razor out of the box. The serrations are only on one side, but it only needs to be on one to be effective. The knife is just a little heavier than I expected. It comes with a sheath so dont waste your money on another one. I highly recommend this knife as if I were to need it to defend myself or perform some outdoor task it would hold up well. Looks even cooler in real life than in the picture!

This is a great knife, I love the serrated edge and the balance of the knife is superb. The sheath is great. Durable knife.

Even the Wife was impressed; who used the knife already this week. Well balanced, goot weight, strong grip even when wet.

As described. Although Im slightly disappointed that the display box for the knife was damaged. This wouldnt be a big deal, but its a gift. Still 5 stars though.
