Ive selected nothing but TP-Link smart plugs and switches for my home for two simple reasons: - Their app is the best... I can easily set my lighting schedule for all my bulbs and wall switches using easy program steps. Just to say program is deceptive - its not complicated at all. I especially love that I can turn lights on at sunset and off at sunrise, based on my precise location. So in the winter, the lights come on earlier that the summer. TP-Link makes this drop-dead easy to do. - I can use just one app on my phone to control all these things. If you start trying several different companies products, you end of with several different companies apps on your phone. I stumbled onto TP-Link first when I wanted to turn my espresso machine on in the morning before I wake up. I loved how I could have it come on automatically at 6am - but if I was awake earlier, I could have Alexa turn the machine on earlier. Why mess with several apps when TP-Link works so well with Alexa and my phone?

Im the kind of person that needs to wake up early in the morning but it doesnt come naturally to me. There might be other devices that match the sunrise to help you wake up, but those are also $200. With this you can set a timer so that the light is on when you wake up. I just plug my lamp into it and it works like a charm. Same effect for 1/10 the price. It works off of an app in your phone. I dont have alexa so I cant speak to how it works with that

Great product! In my situation it’s hard to reach where I have my night lights plugged in. This smart plug makes it super easy to turn on the lights at dusk without struggling to reach the outlet. I did not connect to Alexa nor did I need tech support so I have no comment on that. The installation steps were easy to follow but just a little frustrating waiting for it to connect. I had to retry several times.

I connected it to my wifi router I wanted so I could power the router off and on I was able to power the router off with the phone but it would not power the router back on with my phone. I returned back to Amazon.

I said many great reviews -- really for the part number HS103P2, this is the single item version. Three nits: The box it came in said to Get the Kasa for Mobile app. Well, at least at the App(le) store this gets you the wrong app -- nothing close to being a TP-Link app. Secondly, I spent a long (pleasant) time chatting with tech support only to find out that it could not be setup on a network with three active channels under one SSID. (Had to shut down all but one access point to get it to setup.) Thirdly, once setup, it will always use that original channel even if there are stronger channels available. (E.g. after setting it up, I turned my other access points on and moved the HS103 across the house. Original channel was weak, HS103 would not use another much stronger channel.) Beware of this issue. Otherwise, a slick piece of hardware.

I bought this for my espresso machine. I have no complaints. It is scheduled to come on and does just that. After a few hours it will auto shut off. The app works easily too. Will certainly buy more. I use with google

I have 3 other smart plugs which I purchased on Amazon which are working fine. I purchased 2 other smart plugs on Amazon , and I cannot connect either one. The customer support on T-Link is not helpful and difficult to connect with my particular issue. I have no other option than to return the last 2 smart plugs. Please provide customer support for items sold on Amazon if you wish to increase your smart plug sales.

Its very easy to set up with the Kasa app and works great with Alexa/Echo. Its not expensive and can add a bit of home automation. I bought two of these small plugs for our TVs and an outdoor one for our inflatable pool. It does add some bulk to the plug so make sure you make room for that. The plug goes straight in. Here is a picture of the TV plugged into the Kasa Plug, then into our surge protector behind our media cabinet.

After using this plug with the app for many months, they broke it without any notification. I had a schedule to turn it on every day at sunset, and turn it off after bedtime. Worked for a long time, then suddenly, it will only set to Sun, Mon, Tue (even though it says on the main page MWF). At first, I thought, oh thats why its not working, and I went through and set it for all days, and saved. Opened it back up, and it was back to MTW. No way would it set for more than the 3 days. So I tried making a new one for Th Fri Sat, and it wouldnt accept it. It says I must choose a day. Even if I edit an existing action to delete M Tu Wed, it will give an error. So, bottom line, it only will schedule an action for Mon, Tue, and Wed. But it doesnt tell you that, of course. A quick search led me to many Reddit posts about this, and how many people got screwed when it didnt do something they were counting on. At least it still works with Alexa, so far. Probably works with Google Home, too, but I havent figured out how to set it up because I used to have a Wemo plug, and Google keeps trying to talk to Wemo.

Im using my Kasa Smart Plug to run my low voltage outdoor landscape lights (transformer in the garage) and one indoor light in my living room. The low voltage transformer has a built-in timer, but its easier to just leave it on and adjust the times via app and my iPhone. Same for the indoor light - it used to be controlled by my home security system, but its easier to adjust via the app.
