> 3 dayI kinda hate that phrase but in this case its true. These are cheap and they come with the problems of cheap tech. First of all, I havent connected these to Alexa because... well... no Alexa devices (nor do we want any, shes creepy). So I assume it works well with Alexa, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I do have it set up with HomeKit via HomeBridge. This is a home-server kinda deal and takes a bit of technical knowledge to setup but if youre careful following HomeBridges instructions, it shouldnt be difficult for the average person whose buying smart kit. I do have these on a metered, packet-inspected, IoT network and they phone home about as much as youd expect though dont seem to send any more info that is absolutely necessary. I did end up completely blocking them from the internet and route external functions through Home Assistant (a tool like HomeBridge that works along side it to give you great access to non-HomeKit devices as well as IFTTT-like automation). The real drawback on these is that they randomly disconnect from the wifi and dont pick it back up until you physically unplug and replug them. Ive tried just about everything i can think of (and, not to toot my own horn too much, Im an IT Pro and a huge nerd, so Ive covered the feasible options pretty well) to little success. Basically, using these is accepting that you will need to unplug and replug them at least once a month. They do have a little orange disconnected light, so at least its easy to tell when theyve errored out. I have found that running an AI managed network for them helps. Being able to dynamically switch channels, IPs, etc., when they start behaving oddly can maintain functionality longer than even an out-of-the-box unsecured wifi (I got desperate during testing). As for the App it comes with its... not terrible. Setting up a new plug only takes a few minutes and its pretty responsive after that. The App is, however, fugly and generally feels like its an afterthought. Which doesnt inspire trust. I used it pretty much only to set the plugs up then played with it just long enough to realize it sucks. Youll need the app, but if youre going to rely on it rather than using Alexa (probably) or HomeKit youre going ot have a bad time. In the end, theyre cheap, but you need to have the tech skills to compensate for that.

> 3 dayFirst off, I am just getting into smart home devices so naturally I am a newbie. I have an Ecobee Smart Thermostat with Alexa so I wanted to expand my smart devices. We put up our Christmas decorations, inside and outside. I was getting sick of turning them off individually -- there were times that we forgot to turn them off so they were on all night. After some research, I stumbled upon the Kasa smart plugs which seemed like a dream come true. Comparatively, there were cheaper than the Philips Hue series and the reviews were consistently great. I took a chance and boy, I am extremely happy with these (as well as the outdoor plug). It was as simple as 1-2-3 as far as setting them up. I read a couple reviews saying the app doesnt work and sync with their plugs. Not sure what all the fuss is all about but they worked perfectly fine. Its nice that you can set up a schedule as well as a group so all devices can turn on and off depending on what device youve chosen. Its also nice to say, Alexa, turn on Christmas Decorations and all the lights turn on. Ive also set up Movie Night where the Christmas tree and some window lights turn off so there isnt glare. Overall, I am very happy with these smart plugs and I hope Kasa comes out with more products because I am happy with their products! 10/10 would recommend.

> 3 dayHad to repeatedly try to pair with app before establishing connection. Once it connected all was good. Works great. Plug is large and horizontal. Does not fit nicely with certain outlet configurations or other plugs. I had to add a powerstrip to plug in other devices in order to use smart plug on the wall I needed it on.

Greater than one weekI use these to control lighting on my collectibles. The iPhone app works great and setup is a breeze. Very easy if you have multiples as you can edit your own names and groups. Most likely will be purchasing more.

Greater than one weekOutrageously easy to setup and use. Full disclosure: I dont have it it integrated with Alexa or any other smart ecosystem device - just controlling the individual plugs from the Kasa app. If more needed in the future, will absolutely buy again.

04-12-2024I really like this wifi plug, because it makes any non smart appliance smart, the button on side is really cool because if you lose internet you still have a way to trun on your appliance without having to unplug it, the only Im complaining about is the wifi signal, it is very strong inside the house, but as soon as I go outside, the connection is very very slow bit sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Other than that I recommend this smart plug 98%

> 3 dayThe product does what it says. It turns on or off if you click a button in the app. The app also allows scheduling. But the app does not seem to allow good control of the device (e.g., turn the socket on if a smart bulb installed on the same app is on), which to me is the main point of having a smart device. Since the device does not work with at least one other platform that allows this kind of smart programming (Smart Life app, that Ive been testing), I find its use case very poor in comparison with the competition. And it does not measure power consumption, another big minus. I saw good reviews of this product, including in the Wirecutter, but the limitations of the app are not clear from the product information webpage, so I returned this.

Greater than one weekIt was easy to add the app and plug them in and set them to the lights however they turn off automatically but they dont turn on as scheduled, I manually do it from the app. However I do like to convey and to be able turn the lights on away from home.

> 3 dayEasy to set up. You can either use them from the product app or through an Alexa. Really convenient!
