The shipping for this item was fast. The Kester 44 Rosin Core Solder is a great product for wire soldering. The 1lb. spool should last a long time before I have to buy another one. Worth the price.

It doesnt get any better than this. A 60/40 mix has better wetting characteristics, but a eutectic mixture (63/37) is ideal for consistently perfect electronic joints that set bright and shiny if the wire connections are first heated properly (I set my temperature-controlled iron to 700 degrees F). The type 44 rosin flux residue requires a solvent to clean it away (e.g., isopropyl alcohol), but this flux type very effectively cleans metal joints during soldering. Unfortunately, this solder may be impossible to get in the future since the ROHS initiative bans lead. The replacement silver-bearing solders require higher melt temperatures, but Kester will certainly make the best of these solder types, too.

What I expected

This is the best solder I have ever used. The .031 is best for through hole work and the .02 for surface mount work. I would suggest getting a roll of each if you do both types of work.

All the solder I need for a long time. I got the metal feeding spool to go with it and could not be happier.
