15-11-2024I upgraded my radio in my 18 Ram Quad Cab. This is one noisy pickup. A lot of sound from the 6x9s was just being canceled out and over powered by the road noise. This makes the treble really harsh and piercing. I could barely get the eq to make up for the noise. I used 38 of 47 sheets on the doors of kilmat. The difference is night and day. The doors feel more solid. They are heftier. The noise reduction is enormously significant. The harshness to my music is gone and the mids and lows are very pronounced now. Ill use the other 9 sheets to put under the carpet where the downward firing sub is and the rest under the carpet of the front seats. Great product with a better value compared to other brands.

> 3 dayVery impressed with the performance of this mat, especially for the price. I installed it on the floor and rear of the cab on a 2006 F350 6.0 Powerstroke. I still havent finished the job but Ive heard enough to rate the product. I plan on doing the doors and ceiling tomorrow. I started the truck just now. This is without the factory carpet and pad installed. Without the boot on the floor shifter. Without the seat installed. The cab noise has been significantly reduced. Night and day difference. This is the most affordable mat I could find and absolutely will be buying more for two other vehicle projects I have.

> 3 dayFor those looking for a good low-cost alternative to Dynamat, this is acceptable. I used both Dynamat and Kilmat on the same build. The Dynamat product was the Dynamat Xtreme. In contrast, the aluminum on the Kilmat is thinner and the butyl material smells A LOT like roofing felt... like EXACTLY like roofing felt -- definitely a bituminous odor. It is not overwhelming. I could only smell it with from about 2 away at normal temperatures By comparison the Dynamat Xtreme has ZERO odor. Nothing. The good thing about the Kilmat is that it sticks very quickly (used a heat gun to promote adhesion due to cooler outdoor temps but really did not need to) and the embossed aluminum makes it simple cut straight with one mark. Also, the packaging says it is made in the Russian Federation... so, those folks have a lot of experience silencing things so this will likely work very well. I just hope its not made out of Chernobyl chunks else my build will put a new meaning on the term radioactive.

> 3 dayReplacement for 1968 Tornado under carpet. Good adhesive and coverage. Can’t address sound blocking as car is yet to be on the road due to rebuild.

> 3 dayI prefer this to thicker offerings because it allows for flexibility. I can double up layers in more resonant spots and do single layers in spots that don’t need much help, or where I just want heat isolation. This product is not a noise isolation product, it is a damping material for panel resonance. It will do a little but if you are looking to substantially lower road noise level, this is not the product to use. With that said, it is the best damping material per sqft and price on the market.

> 3 dayLove this stuff, so much cheaper than dynamat and no difference in quality. Super easy to cut, easy to roll down(with the right rollers), molds amazingly well around anything, and deadening quality is awesome. No complaints what so ever. There’s a reason why it has thousands of good reviews. Also 50sq ft did my entire trunk even to sides and double layers on my trunk lid and still had a bunch leftover. My trunk is kinda small it’s a 2013 Cadillac ATS but considering how much I had leftover 50sqft will cover the biggest of trunks and I assume be able to double layer the main parts of the lid too. Even did my license plate!

> 3 dayIve built motors, done extensive bodywork and made all kinds of modifications to vehicles. Sound deadening is by far my favorite. The install isnt fun by metric. First, uninstall your entire interior. Clean the inside of every panel with isopropyl alcohol. Grab a rolling pin (they make specific tools for this), cut your acoustic mat and be prepared to spend the next 8 hours in a sweaty and cramped position. Cover every square inch you can- it really does make a difference. Put in the hours here, and enjoy it for the rest of your vehicles ownership. Not only does this make your ride quieter, but it feels more luxurious, too, since the deadening material has the additional effect of quieting down interior trim rattles. My old Ford Ranger is now quieter on the highway than my BMW 5 series (seriously!). The 50mil Kilmat is not the thickest option, but it is an outstanding value when Dynamat will sell you the same basic product (foil-layered tar) for twice the price.

> 3 daywas amazed at how much one box can cover, the parts I covered on my car definitely make it feel more solid and less like a tin can. For noise cancellation, I do not notice much of a difference but I love how solid it makes my car feel, and when lowering the hood it is definitely canceling all the noise of a thin piece of metal shed door closing noise that happened before, now it sounds sturdy and silent. some weird rubber smell at first but did not linger. easy to cut with scissors or with a razor, I am living in a desert environment so the heat of summer helped the stickiness/ adhesion. would recommend.
