updated. i tried partial coverage. one box 50 sq. ft. and put it on all the biggest metal panels. it was somewhat effective but i was not 100% happy with it. for best results go full coverage. at least 90%. i keep buying more and tearing my car apart again lol! just buy 150 sq. ft. and go nuts and cover everything! not just metal, on the back of all the plastic interior panels too. put a couple extra sheets in the middle of big panels to double up. i have a big 4 door camry so a hatchback could do 100 sq. ft. you can definitely have too little. but you cant have too much! the more you put on the better it works! i will likely buy another box to do the hood and front fenders in the future. i also found that it works great inside plastic speaker enclosures around the house.

Works well, within its limitations. Its not going to turn your 90s tin can car into a modern lexus, but it was a pleasant change in my 2012 Miata, making everything sound more solid, the stereo sounds better, and marginally less road noise. Make sure to get the application roller tool, as its essential for proper application. One note, you dont need to entirely cover panels. One sheet or a large square on a panel will work 90% as well as covering the whole panel. The purpose of this is to dampen vibrations. It is not sound deadening mat, despite being labeled as such. For proper sound deadening you need something to isolate the sound. This is usually closed cell foam, or something like carpet padding.

VALUE: I used Dynamat Xtreme (~67mil thickness) on my outer door skins on my 2012 Mustang, but I wanted to try something less expensive for the roof. While Dynamat Xtreme costs about $4.44 per square foot, a 50 square foot box of 50Mil Kilmat is $1/SF. I feel like Kilmat gives you about 60-70% of the effectiveness of Dynamat, but for 23% of the price. SMELL: The material had a pretty noticeable odor after just opening the box. I installed this on sunny 95°F day, which created a very strong smell with the doors and windows closed. The smell was gone after airing out the car for about 3 hot days. It didnt seem to linger in my cloth seats either. INSTALLATION: I really enjoyed working with Kilmat. The embossed rectangles make it very easy to cut out specific shapes without measuring. It also makes it very easy to see where you need to use your roller tool to press down the material. Its thin enough to bend into tight spaces and the foil stays well attached to the butyl. WORD OF CAUTION: Whatever product you go with, make sure to avoid asphalt containing products. They give off a horrible smell and they have potential health risks. As far as I can tell, Kilmat *does not* contain asphalt. UNDERSTANDING DEADENING SHEETS: - Layering butyl sheets isnt effective. 2 sheets of 50mil thickness is much worse than a single sheet of 100mil. - Kilmat and similar products mainly dampen the vibrations of whatever its applied to. It doesnt do a great job of blocking sound waves or as thermal insulation. Its best applied to large, thin sheet metal thats prone to vibration.

This stuff is legit. Just as good as the big box names and a fraction of the cost. Goes on easy. Smoothes put nicely and quick. Very easy to work with does what it says it does. One box goes a long way while doing a jeep wrangler. Only used about a quarter of the box so far and have gotten the rear cargo area floor done and the passenger front floor pan. Highly recommended. Just be sure to get the three size install rollers and it will make your life easier.

Love this stuff, so much cheaper than dynamat and no difference in quality. Super easy to cut, easy to roll down(with the right rollers), molds amazingly well around anything, and deadening quality is awesome. No complaints what so ever. There’s a reason why it has thousands of good reviews. Also 50sq ft did my entire trunk even to sides and double layers on my trunk lid and still had a bunch leftover. My trunk is kinda small it’s a 2013 Cadillac ATS but considering how much I had leftover 50sqft will cover the biggest of trunks and I assume be able to double layer the main parts of the lid too. Even did my license plate!

I bought the 50 square foot package and it came in just the right sizes that made it and easy job to piece them together and get great coverage. This is the floor of a 1976 F150. These sheet metal floors are usually quite tinny and transmit road noise. With only a couple of sheets installed I could already tell it was working and it looks great too! I bought a package of three sizes of rollers to facilitate the install.

Used one kit to completely cover the floor of a Sierra extended cab truck. Covered floor and up back of cab. Still had about 4-6 sheets left over. Throughly cleaned the metal and this stuff stuck right on. Doing it in the sunlight let’s you contour the sheets to fit exactly how you need. Overall pretty good noise reduction. My truck is a duramax with 5in straight pipe and axle dump and the drone is significantly less than before.

This is a lot of material and it goes a long way. I did the back wall of my truck and have at least 35 sheets left. I may add more elsewhere. It cuts super easy with scissors or a razor knife and molds into place. I got the roller tool which was great for flat areas and found a screwdriver handle worked great for smaller, hard to reach areas.

Absolutely awesome. I used these in my 67 Camaro (350 cid with stock dual exhaust manifolds and exhaust system). Very easy to install (place mat down for fitting), applies easily (use a roller), sticks very well. The noise reduction is incredible. You can hear the engine, but significant reduction in road and exhaust noise. Conversation volume is at normal level. My buddy made a phone call and was able to speak at normal levels and no issues hearing conversation. It’s like riding in a new car. Very happy with purchase. Great product and great price compared to other sound deadening materials.
