Im going to try to make this short and simple. Gameplay/Controls: If you have ever played Kingdom Hearts and its sequel, then you may know how it works when you start, except for the Command Deck for your abilities. There are also some mini-games that can be played with other people that have the game localy. The controls are kind of the same, except for the lack of a second analog for the camera,(using L and R for camera), but you might not seem to care because the controls are pretty good for the PSP. Story: The story is suppose to take place before the first Kingdom Hearts game, so your not missing anything if your new to the series. The story involves 3 characters in the game, so theres some replayability to know the full story. Difficulty: The difficulty is pretty fair. Not too easy, not too hard, but dont take my word for it, I havent played past hard yet. In conclusion: If you want to play a fun game, then get this game, just make sure you have at least maybe 700mb of free space to install the game,(load times are long).

As a PSP owner for a couple of years of now and also an avid fan of the Kingdom Hearts Series, Birth By Sleep the prequel to the Kingdom Hearts Series is a must have for any PSP owner. The graphics is just like the the first KH on the PS2 platform and I must say a very good job to the creators of Square Enix. There is no lag in game battles even though it can get intense while casting magic and creating melee attacks combined with aerial assaults to fight off the Unversed. For me I catch on details pretty quick and I analyze how things go and I must say that the game does a good job with the character voice overs. I have played the Japanese version and for the English version, I have trouble feeling the emotion of Aqua one of the main characters in Birth By Sleep. Its as if the voice over lacks feeling to what she says and as if dry when having conversations with others in each world. It can be repetative if trying to level up magic so that you can create abilities to use like Magic Haste, Hp Plus, etc, and you pretty much know when there are many enemies in an area so you can exit the location then come back for more exp points. But if you dont care about who played who, some repetative fights, and just want to smash, slash, use a keyblade, have intense times at the end, then this is a game for you. Overall I would say a 4.5/5

Ive checked around, and this problem is apparently common among Birth by Sleep owners. But its also misunderstood by people who never experienced it (theyll give helpful advice about how your hand is probably too close to the Home key or youre pushing too hard against the back). For those of you who havent had this glitch its like this: In the middle of the game (sometimes several times in the middle of a battle, without pausing, making you lose), it pops up as if you pressed Home. Only, I did several experiments. I went through a situation where I figured it was gonna do it (top three besides battles are when you try to Install the software, moving between screens, pausing to the menu screen) and put the PSP on Hold. No way I could have pressed Home but it did it anyway. So then I thought maybe somethings wrong with the memory card? Popped it out, and the game still did this. Could it be the PSP? Nope. It did NOT run this way with any other game I tried to play. It seems to be the UMD itself too, not the software or firmware or anything like that. Im likely going to need to buy a new disc.

My stepdaughter gave me the money to buy this for her. She has previously played kingdom hearts 1 and 2 on her ps2 and since she bought a psp recently, she was saving up the money to buy this prequel. This was purchased at a reasonable price. She loves this game. She has been playing it for hours with no signs of stopping.

Nothing special but not too bad either. Just the endless repeating is kinda boring and the side-quests are not that great. Story was rather hollow and uninteresting but it was ok at times, i enjoyed it to some extent. Liked Aqua and Mickey the most. I consider 358/2 Days way better than this one. My favorite games are I and 358. Then II. The other games are decent but not a favorite.

When I first heard of this game last year I was so excited I wanted it to come out right away but I knew I would have to be pationt. I am a big fan of the Kingdom Hearts Series that I really wanted this game since I already have KH1 and 2 and even KH Re: Chain of Memoryies (dont have a GB). I was a little pressed for cash to get it pre-orderd but it didnt matter, as much as I love the series I wasnt about to jump in just yet I didnt want to spend good money that might end up being a flop so I waited out for the reviews. After a week or so with great reviews I decided it was now or never. Wanting to experance the full thing I went ahead and orderd a version that would be previously pre-orderd so I would get the decal sticker and everything. It cost about $20 more but I didnt mind now, I had the money to spare. I have only had it for a few days and I admit I havnt even finished Terras story yet, mostly because Im at the end of his now and I want to get caught up on some things like getting loot and other stuff before I finish his story. But I just love the story so far and the gaming experance itselfe. I also have componet cables so I can play from my TV which is a dream. My friends say Im picky with the games I play, for me it has to have decent graphics and a good story and half the time the PSP games Ive looked at it is one or the other, no happy medium untill now. So I am really happy I got this game and chances are I am going to be playing it to the ground just because its the best PSP game I have at the moment. But anyway if you want a game for the PSP with great grahics and a great story then this is deffinatly the right one to get.

Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite series of all time. This game is no different than the others. I was impressed at how the game is quite seamless in its controls as a result of having less buttons to press. Great Story and the graphics look great. The game play is impressive. Lastly the storyline is great. My only reservation about the game is that it seems too short and a bit repetitive based on how the game is set up (3 playable characters with intertwined stories). Overall I would give this game a 9.5/10.

The game is well made & love the store-line but its sad that terra lost his body to the bad guy and i prey he gets it back in KH3 for PS3/PSV soon. Ven looking like roaxs was bit confusing but i peace the whole store-line and know why now and i hope him and his friends come back in KH3 to stop the evil mastermind again but with fail. And save hot and cute aqua who is tap in the darkness realm. I find it funny that she and sora never met in the realm of darkness on the same beach when sora got trap too. Very weird on that part their.

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is probably one of the most high quality titles on the PSP to date. I write with the Vita already launched so its probably mute at this point that this is a great buy. To those who are familiar with the series this instalment meets all expectations that the brand Kingdom Hearts is known for. To those who are not, this is still a great pick-up no matter what. This game follows three keyblade wielders and their individual experiences throughout the timeline of events surrounding the game. This is perhaps the neatest touch to a KH game since 358 days over 2 concept of playing within the organization (for those of you who dont know they are the main villains from KH II). Ill break down this into many parts so please bear with me. Graphics: Probably the God of War titles and the Dissidia games beat out this game for me here, but this is really close with them. It looks just like KH from the PS2 and it was a great surprise to see that this game be as good looking as it was. (One reason why I favor Sony over Nintendo in the handheld market) Every visual you can think of was well put together and had great detail. (5/5) Environments: Like all KH games, this chapter has many different worlds. Most of them are new, focusing on the princesses from KH I that you dont really interact with (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora) and two worlds that get a proper intro. Im talking about the REAL Neverland with the actual island and lost boys (Not a pirate ship and Big Ben KH I fans), and stitch gets his own location with the space ship with the characters from the movie (Except Lilo, but thats actually a good thing, personally). Radiant Garden, however, is my favorite due to the locations you dont see in KH II. These are all great areas that are worth being in. (5/5) Characters: Im pretty sure that there are those like me who saw the cover and said Hey theres Mickey and Roxas! (KH II) but who are the others? WELP guess what? not Roxas. Thats Ventus with Aqua and Terra. With all kinds of characters, the big surprises were seeing 2 different Soras, Kairi, and Riku. You also get to see Xeanorht (I know thats not how you spell it but I tried by sounding it out.) but hes not who you think. He looks COMPLETELY different form KH II and probably the single best thing about him is that he is voiced by Leonard Nimoy! Thats right! Mr Spock from Star Trek. Master Eraqus (I hope thats how its spelled) is my favorite because he is kind of like Yoda from Star Wars. Each character is well voiced and designed with awesome personalities. You will consistently see characters from games past here. Im not spoiling it but you might want to pay attention to Radiant Garden when your there. (5/5) Gameplay: Movement, fighting, and other nuances are all there. The analog stick is actually of some use here as it did not feel that in the way for me while I was playing. The only negative about this game falls here, and thats the dice board. Its a great way to level up your attacks, but it is really time consuming. In the end it was worth it for me to have powerful attacks by the end of each storyline, but I probably spent half my time on the dice board. Its fun, but it wears off after a while. Otherwise, everything else is very polished and has great control. (4/5) Story: OK, Now the big kicker. Im someone who loves to play games in a series chronologically (Except Final Fantasy where they are not related in universe [I dont count Dissidia]) so this is probably the first game you should play since its set before where it all supposedly began in KH I. As I said, the multiple points of view was the best touch as a story mechanic. With that being said, Im not that big on how it turned out but it answers a LOT of questions from throughout the timeline. 1.) Where did Xeanorht come from? 2.) How did Sora, Riku, and Kairi became wielders of the keyblade? 3.) What is the meaning of the secret movie at the end of KH II? However, 4 really interesting questions that got answered floored me: 1.) In 358 days over 2, near the end, a cutscene involving Xigbar, Axel, and Xion takes place on Wonderland. What did Xigbars statement mean? 2.) How did Castle Oblivion come to be in Chain of Memories? 3.) At the end of the game in the single last cutscene, how do the three come together? 4.) The origin of the organizations founders. This is what had me ending this game with a smile on my face and a sense of satisfaction. Great story told only the way a KH game can, with a vast array of plot twists. (5/5) Pros: + Great Story + Memorable Characters + Awesome Worlds + Answers series long questions Con: - Dice board can take some of the fun away. In summary if you dont have it: BUY IT. If you want somewhere to start the series: BUY IT. If your looking for just a casual PSP Game: BUY IT and you will possibly find yourself caught up in the series as a whole. (9/10)
