Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep - Sony PSP

> 3 dayThe latest game in the awesome Kingdom Hearts series, Birth by Sleep is for the PSP and surprisingly awesome! Chronilogically, its the first game in the series, set 10 years before the first Kingdom Hearts games. This means we have a whole new set of people to pay as instead of the usual Sora (or Roxas). BbS actually has three people to play as and thus three storylines to follow, each interconnecting with others. Its gets a bit confusing at points if you take a long break between storylines, but the game gives you a timeline after beating it. You can play as Terra, Ven, or Aqua, and each has their distinct style/strength/weaknesses. Ven fights a little similar to Roxas, his emphasis more on speed. Terra is powerful, but a bit slow. And Aqua is weak at keyblade hits but strong in magic. But the gameplay is excellent. I play most games for story above everything else. KHII and the remake of Chains of Memories were my favourites in the series, but Birth by Sleep has almost take than spot. BbS answers a lot of questions fans of the series have been asking, but also brings more of its own. SLIGHT SPOILERS: I thought Ven would be my favourite due to his resemblance/connection to Roxas, but Terra took the cake. It was easy to pick out that he would one day become Xemnas, but his transformation of a strong warrior trying to do right to almost being tricked into being the bad guy just was WOW. END SPOILERS Its hard to review this game without gushing at its awesomeness, but just go play it. To appreciate the KH storyline better, you have to start at the begininng

> 3 dayHaving played Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 years ago, I skipped most of the other iterations of the Kingdom Hearts series either because I didnt have the console (DS) or because the games just didnt seem to have the same appeal (Chain of Memories). Shortly before picking up my PSP I heard a lot of really great things about this game, with most reviews saying it had a good story, graphics, and an improved combat system, but a quirky camera. Having put almost 43 hours into the game, over the course of 10 days (having completed it yesterday), I can honestly say this game has been one of the most enjoyable Ive played in the last year. The game features a combat system similar to the first two Kingdom Hearts games, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. The story, while a little confusing because we follow three (playable) characters, is pretty good. I only wish I had remembered more about the first Kingdom Hearts, since its a prequel to the events that take place there (although if you havent played the other games in the series youll still do fine). Im once again a little embarrassed that Im enjoying a game featuring Disney characters, but Square once again merges the different characters together very nicely. Voice acting for all characters is decent to great. As noted above, Ive put at least 42 hours into the game, completing each characters stories, and the final episode, but could easily put a dozen hours more into the game getting further completion and in the arena (which is still enjoyable, even though I dont know anyone else with a PSP). All-in-all, I give this game 5 stars across the board. Square and Disney have really hit the mark with this game.

> 3 dayThis game is really fun, and is not a disappointment. Its one of the better games on the psp, and the graphics are really good.If u enjoyed kingdom hearts 2, then this game is worth the buy cause the gameplay is pretty much the same thing. I cant think of any negatives to this game, other than not liking some of the characters but thats just a personal opinion. I just wish Square Enix will make a kingdom hearts 3 soon and lessen the side stories games.

> 3 dayThis game is awesome! Explains a lot of the story telling of how characters became who they are and how they relate to the ten years between this game and the first Kingdom Hearts. Ties in really well with everything and get to see characters before they meet Sora, yet kind of do at the same time.

> 3 dayThis product came new in plastic, and the gameplay was just like those youtube videos you probably looked at before buying this product. The only issue I have with this is that the PSP takes a while to load up the content. Youll be in the heat of battle and switch combat modes which youll have to wait 3 or 4 seconds before you can start fighting again One feature that this game has is Install Game which takes up a lot of memory on your memory stick in order to shorten these loading times. Ive done the highest install amount and I do have to say that the amount of load time this saves is somewhat smaller, perhaps by a couple of seconds or half seconds. Overall this product matches up with the gameplay you see on the youtube videos with exception to the short loading speeds.

> 3 dayI am a hard core Kingdom Hearts fan. I have played all the games that have ever come out (excluding the Japanese versions and their Final Mixs). Out of all the games that have been publish through the Kingom Hearts years, I dare say that Birth By Sleep tops over all of them in performance. The battle system is the most complex yet user-friendly that has ever been implemented. One goes about the game gaining attack cards (to give them a name) that one levels up, and combines to create new different types of physical and magic attacks. As far as PSP graphics go, Birth by Sleep pushes the PSPs limit by using great cutscenes that match even the best of the console series. The story is as good as the first Kingdom Hearts if not better. The concept of having three different characters going about the same story and seeing each individual story unfold to come together as one was one I didnt feel comfortable with. That is until I pushed that side power button and had unanswered questions within the first ten minutes of the first characters story (which you get to choose by the way). It is genius and is one of the major components making this game great. If it isnt better than the first game (and I can not bring myself to a decision due to the nostalgia and love for the original) than it is as good as the first Kingdom Hearts. I would recommend this game to any Kingdom Hearts fan, and non-fan alike, who own a PSP. You will enjoy the game even if you are not familiar with the series as a whole.

Greater than one weekThis is a brilliant prequel to what will be one of most well known video game crossovers of all time. Beautiful graphics, the PSP shines like the PS2. True sceneries could be played with more but for the PSP Im massively impressed. The story is absolutely heartbreaking, and incredibly dramatic. A perfect tie in to Kingdom Hearts, while also setting up potential storylines for KH3(whenever that decides to be announced). I despised 356/2 days, absolutely loathed it this is such a breathe of fresh air. True its a hack and slash but there are so many minigames and story to tell its just a fantastic experience. The gameplay like any Kingdom Hearts game is the typical God of War hack and slash with reaction commands every now and then. I like how they added D links and I LOVE the new combat system, its very enjoyable. The one problem with the gameplay is the camera mode, they fixed the problem in KH2 but it came back in this one, granted it does not really effect the game play but when your trying to fight the boss and it locks on to a crate it can kind of make or break you. Which now leads me to difficulty, this game is HARD. It is very challenging especially on Proud Mode, I underestimated the level of difficulty. It seems all those fans that complained about how easy KH 2 was can breathe a fresh air because BBS especially on proud mode is HARD. I think I died 6 times in the Sleeping Beauty world, very difficult. This game is well worth the money, well worth the wait and an incredible experience. 5/5 easily, I hope I helped. The 1 star review for this amazing game is just a huge hell no.

Greater than one weekI was late to the party with the Kingdom Hearts hype. All of my friends were recommending that I buy and play the game ... so I bought this one. I have to say, I played it through--with all three of the main characters and was pretty unimpressed. Movement and controls were perfect, but story-line was lacking. I didnt feel anything for the characters nor did I connect with any of their stories. Also, I felt that each journey to a different Disney adventure was forced and jumpy and had no purpose. The graphics are fantastic, the characters all look great ... but, again, the story was just ... ugh. Im glad I played the game, but its a one-time play--not a game Id pick up again.

Greater than one weekIm going to try to make this short and simple. Gameplay/Controls: If you have ever played Kingdom Hearts and its sequel, then you may know how it works when you start, except for the Command Deck for your abilities. There are also some mini-games that can be played with other people that have the game localy. The controls are kind of the same, except for the lack of a second analog for the camera,(using L and R for camera), but you might not seem to care because the controls are pretty good for the PSP. Story: The story is suppose to take place before the first Kingdom Hearts game, so your not missing anything if your new to the series. The story involves 3 characters in the game, so theres some replayability to know the full story. Difficulty: The difficulty is pretty fair. Not too easy, not too hard, but dont take my word for it, I havent played past hard yet. In conclusion: If you want to play a fun game, then get this game, just make sure you have at least maybe 700mb of free space to install the game,(load times are long).
