> 3 dayIts laughable to think they can call this usb 3.0, more like 3.slow . 11 min to transfer a 30 mb folder, really ? By comparison I tried to transfer the same folder to a 2.0 drive, it took 20 second. The read speed isnt any better. Select to preview, you get the spinning beachball for 10 second then the file shows up. About the only thing good about this is its storage size. Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more for one that actually does what it says.

> 3 dayIve bought quite a few USB thumb drives from Kingston. I have yet to have any of them fail. This 128 GB is my most recent and has a pretty good capacity. The only complaint I have with this model is that the write speed sometimes seems to be relatively slow, even though the read speed is what i would expect from USB3.0. Im not sure if thats a USB3.0 issue or just something with this hardware.

> 3 dayThese drives are unreliable. I bought two to supplement my Sandisk Extreme drives which are pricey. I just wanted to have a couple of drives for booting computers - low writes, lots of reads. They are so poorly implemented that they cant even handle that! Yes, the performance is mediocre - not what I bought them for. The problem seems to be that a decent fraction of the time they will disconnect during heavy reading or writing - which means file corruption and serious problems. Other times, they arent recognized at all on some systems. The problem seems to be with USB 3 mode, but I think they sometimes have issues in any mode. I had a problem getting modern macbook pros (USB 3) to boot off of them at all (where the identical image on a sandisk extreme worked 100%). I have had problems on an Acer with USB 3 ports as well. Ill plug it in and wait, and nothing happens. In linux ill check the logs, and sometimes theres nothing at all, other times Ill get a bunch of errors in dmesg. I have never had this kind of problem before. Ill plug it into a legacy USB 2 port, and poof, it mounts! After 30 seconds, it fails to mount the device. I just plugged one in my USB3 port now, heres what I got: [13745.997136] usb 4-2: new SuperSpeed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd [13746.029889] usb 4-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0951, idProduct=1666 [13746.029896] usb 4-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [13746.029900] usb 4-2: Product: DataTraveler 3.0 [13746.029903] usb 4-2: Manufacturer: Kingston [13746.029906] usb 4-2: SerialNumber: 60A44C3FAD9EBE91698E0092 [13746.030551] usb-storage 4-2:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected [13746.030716] scsi8 : usb-storage 4-2:1.0 [13767.958162] usb 4-2: reset SuperSpeed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd [13772.976227] usb 4-2: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [13773.080179] usb 4-2: reset SuperSpeed USB device number 4 using xhci_hcd [13778.098299] usb 4-2: device descriptor read/8, error -110 [13778.258675] usb 4-2: USB disconnect, device number 4 [13778.259476] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep ffff8802ea172300 [13778.259487] xhci_hcd 0000:00:14.0: xHCI xhci_drop_endpoint called with disabled ep ffff8802ea172348 Same device, in the USB 2 port and it mounts in 2 seconds.

> 3 dayGotthese to put operating systems on so I could try them out before I picked one, and to show my father-in-law the better OSs. These are great for this sort of use. After I will use them for pictures, etc on trips. I would say that Kingston is a good name brand and they have never let me down in the past.

> 3 dayI have used Kingston memory products for years and never experienced a failure. This flash drive in all capacities is an excellent buy for a USB 3.0, and is even cheaper than it was when I bought it about six months ago. Since I am always losing the covers on flash drives, the non-detachable cover is a huge plus for me. I think it may have a lifetime warranty like Kingstons memory sticks. Very fast even in a USB 2.0 port. I bought it to use as a dedicated OSX installation drive because an 8GB was unavailable. Now it is so cheap that buying it is a no-brainier if you want a fast, high-quality and heavily-constructed flash drive that will not die or lose your data.

> 3 dayI use this drive to relocate files that are larger than 4 GB so I Changed storage to the NTFS file system. Sometimes it copies slow but this happens based on the file type and size. The speed is not a problem for me.

> 3 dayWell, the first one I got was defective. When it was plugged into my Win PC, it caused disk management to lock up every time it was opened. On my Mac, the drive wouldnt even format. Amazon is shipping me another. When that one arrives, if it functions better than the first, Ill update this review. Update: Got the replacement from Amazon (not in short order, mind you) and the new drive works flawlessly. I was able to install Win10 on my newly built rig in about fifteen minutes and the drive doesnt get as hot as some others Ive used. If you can avoid the defective ones, its nifty little drive.

> 3 dayI have been through many different types of USBs but this have always been my favorite. They are tough, hold a decent amount of data and transfer data at respectable rate. For the price I do not think you will find a better deal. PS: HURRY UP AND MAKE A - RUGGED WATERPROOF - SSD NVME drive pleassse!!!
