The prices have dropped so much on SSD drives I went ahead and got a Kingston SSD for under $30. You can take a 8yr old Laptop, install a SSD drive, load Linux and the old Laptop will run like one a year or two old. Makes a huge difference with Windows OS too.

I purchased 2 of these so far, at different times of the year 2019, to upgrade older or less powerful laptops that needed a boost from the stock HDD.

Let me say first of all, Kingston has been a trusted brand. But the 2 star rating is for a couple of unacceptable concerning items. 1st item, this M.2 Kingston drive came in a previously opened Crucial box. Inner packaging was taped together with drive inside. 2nd item of concern, once installed, imagine my surprise when I turned on my computer to load operating system only to find the drive contained a UEFI boot partition, a recovery partition, and a Windows 10 partition already loaded.

I used this ssd for gaming especially thoes games that take forever to load into aka (Rust),(gta) and more but overall this was a good ssd for its price and fairly fast for gaming I just wish I would have bought the one with more storage

Work as it should.

Easy to install and fast performance

Ive purchased SSDs from Amazon probably about 40 different times now as I rebuild/update office laptops. Of those 40 some odd purchases Ive had exactly 2 new drives fail and both failures were this Kingston brand here. The first failed drive never left my office as it failed on the very same day i had installed the last piece of software. The 2nd failed drive lasted with the user for about a month before it became un-readable.

This is a good idea for replacing a HDD.
