> 3 dayThis Lacie Rugged Raid Pro is such an awesome tool to have, especially for pictures, videos, and finished content. The protective covering definitely helps with small drops! The fact that you have flexibility in terms of choosing your storage plan is also really cool. You either have the option to use all 4 TB of storage, or to use 2 TB of storage and have it mirrored (this is definitely something that I wish other external hard drives had too).

> 3 dayIt got all the features you want to transfer pictures and videos, but not very good for traveling companion like the DJI Flydrive. It requires external power to use and traveling places would be difficult. Not portable enough like Flydrive.

Greater than one weekUsed to increase storage of new Mac Mini with only 256GB of its own. While performing programming duties, its response seems on a par with the Macs own SSD. As I do not use the Mac for any higher performance tasks, I cannot comment on how it might perform if I did, The durability rating I gave was simply based on not having had any problems in the one month of ownership, but cannot address long-term what might become apparent.

> 3 dayThis is our third LaCie Thunderbolt portable HD (we have multiple computers), and I love its durability and reliability. Its small and relatively light, and I keep one as a backup drive (only connecting it for periodic backups), just in case those connected to the computer(s) get fried from sudden power surges or other electrical issues. Wouldnt use any other brand because this one has been solid for us!

> 3 dayFor off-site storage of backups, I wanted an external drive to house multiple volumes (backups of two late-model Macs and a few external [media] drives), including bootable clones of the Macs (using Carbon Copy Cloner). Apples file system is now APFS (having moved away from MacOS Extended aka HFS+), which is designed for SSD drives. All my source drives are formatted APFS (naturally). ** Spinning HDD drives 5400rpm or slower are NOT ACCEPTABLE for use in APFS, so this product is not ideal for new MacOS operating systems. EDIT, TO BE MORE CLEAR: This HDD device can only be formatted as HFS+. Clones of newer APFS Macs can be stored on this HFS+ formatted device. HOWEVER, APFS clones on HFS+ devices WILL NOT BE BOOTABLE. So, Im returning it. Unfortunately, I may have to build my own (EXPEN$IVE) all-SSD, single-device backup solution. RHETORICAL QUESTION: Why does LaCie bother outfitting this device with USB 3.1 Gen 2 connectivity when the physical HDD units cannot take full advantage of that speed (10Gb/s)?

> 3 dayI bought it, reformatted it for my MacPro15. Its fast, big and seems reliable so far. I have many of these with lessor memory and have not had even the oldest ones fail. I wish the connectors could be tougher/tighter. They can get loose over time.

> 3 dayThis is my second external SSD from La Cie. I use them as redundant backups, and they are almost as fast as my internal SSD. Compact size, rugged external housing, and in the case of the new drive, has two ports.

Greater than one weekThe built in cable is regular Thunderbolt cable, not a Thunderbolt 3 which the Powerbook Pro needs. This drive comes with a cable to connect to a Powerbook Pro. Its a cheap crappy one just by looking at it but it also doesnt work at all. I was afraid it was the port but thankfully the port works with another cable I have. BEWARE, like me you may need another $25 cable just to use this ... and then what do you do with the dangling cable thats useless to me and built into the drive? Unhappy about this compatible drive. Its not REALLY.
