I was thrilled to see that the overall quality of my breastmilk was great, and was surprised by several of the insights I gained. I had stopped taking iron supplements and lo and behold, I showed low iron on my test, which can be bad for babys sleep! My results were received in the designated time frame and accompanied by a custom note from the founder to provide suggestions, and she even answered a few questions within a few hours. Highly recommend!

This is an excellent product allowing breastfeeding moms to understand the composition of their breastmilk. There are so many unknowns with the initiation of breastfeeding. As an OB/GYN I know that exclusive breastfeeding is considered best whenever possible but we are often left wondering if baby is getting enough, and, furthermore, if the quality of the breastmilk is sufficient. The process for collecting and shipping breastmilk for testing was simple and the report easy to read and informative. I learned that while the calorie content of my breastmilk was average, I was relatively deficient in several micronutrients/vitamins. I would recommend this product to any breastfeeding mom interested in maximizing her babys nutritional health.

Im blown away. I knew what this test would do, but seeing your personal results really solidified the value of this test. I recently became vegetarian and this test served as a reminder to be more intentional about my protein and certain vitamin intake. Really loved this.

This product is genius! I try and eat a very clean and healthy diet for myself and my baby but I’m not perfect. This test showed me where I am a bit deficient and now I can focus on incorporating other foods into my diet. I love it!! I wouldn’t have known any other way and was kinda shocked by some of the results. Highly recommend and would buy to test again in a few months to see if they’ve improved.

I ordered this kit because I was really curious to see what my baby was getting for nutrition from my milk. We exclusively breastfeed as I have with all my children. This was my 2nd kit! I ordered my first one with my last baby. If you reorder for the same child or subsequent children, they give you a discount code, which is already a huge plus in my book. The kit is very easy to use and comes with very clear and easy instructions. But what I was most impressed with was the customer service! The results come in an e mail directly from one of the owners. I love that they deliver the information personally instead of just setting up some basic automated e mail with your results plugged in. She not only gives you your results but she explains everything and gives you recommendations and suggestions if need be. When I read my e mail results it happened to be late at night, I was concerned about a few things with my results so I ended up e mailing her back right away with my questions. I was expecting to hear back from her at some point within the next few days. To my surprise, she e mailed me back right away! It was within 10 minutes. I was blown away! It truly goes to show how much they care for their customers. She could easily just have ignored me with the typical Im not working right now mindset. She was fantastic in answering my questions and making me feel better. She also had great suggestions for me. I cannot speak highly enough about this company and their breastmilk test kits. Im so glad I got my breastmilk analyzed through Lactation Lab! As a new mother, you worry about everything so it was interesting to see a full breakdown of my milk. Not only did I receive a full nutritional breakdown, I received a personalized email with the highlights and recommendations. I really appreciated the personal touch and added new vitamins into my daily routine. It was also so easy to receive and send back and I received the results in no time! I will likely be retesting once I add in more vitamins.

This product/ service is so well-designed, I couldn’t have created something better myself! We have been having weight gain issues with my 4 mo old, my husband and I actually googled this bc we were talking about how cool it would be if a company like this existed and sure enough, here it is! Always fun to be blamed as a mom, right? I was able to see that my milk was in fact the appropriate level of kcals. I was also able to find out about vitamins and minerals and I did make some changes with my diet and vitamins accordingly.

I have a bachelors in nutrition so when my sons pediatrician suggested my breast milk might not have enough calories I went on a search. It was so interesting to find out the nutritional contents of my milk! Although it’s a hefty price tag for some, I considered it worth the investment considering this is my baby’s exclusive food for the first 6 months, and I plan to continue breastfeeding for at least a year. Since I’m not paying for formula (which would add up to way more), why not invest in finding out how my milk contents measure up? I was happy to find out some of my levels were great, and surprised to find out some were low (like vitamin C and iron, even though I take supplements for both!). I also found out the caloric count was a little low... which makes sense because, as a new mom, it’s been hard for me to find time to consistently eat! I wouldn’t have had any idea about the areas in need of improvement without these results... and I’m very grateful to have them. I also appreciate Dr. Canales’ emphasis... that this isn’t about finding out what’s wrong with your milk; it’s about optimizing your milk for your baby. As much as I was a little bummed that my milk wasn’t “perfect” in terms of levels, I’ve kept that perspective in mind— this is about optimizing the nutritional content for my little one. She also included personalized recommendations based on the results, and she’s available to answer questions. Glad I got this done— it’s worth it for my little guy’s health and giving him the best possible, healthiest start to life!
