Over the years of our home network building, we never got around to purchasing a router with more than four ports. That became problematic when we evolved into two primary desktop computers, two printers and a few notebook computers, not to mention a television that prefers CAT6 cable to wireless if we want to watch uninterrupted streaming TV. Enough was enough. I went looking for an 8-port somewhat managed switch for a good price. The Linksys came up on the radar and i pushed the buy button. It arrived, I plugged it in, it worked flawlessly. Port shortage problem solved for about $50. Weve always had good luck with Linksys products. Im glad I purchased this one. It couldnt have been simpler to connect. Take it out of the box, attach the power supply plug - connect one regular port from your router to a port on the switch using a network cable, turn on the power to the switch - ready to go. Just connect additional devices to one of the 7 extra ports now available. No issues at all.

I am a fairly picky user of network equipment, but I dont typically benchmark, troubleshoot, or configure anything unless it explicitly gives me trouble. This switch arrived is a nice box, I hooked it up in about 3 minutes, replacing an old TP-Link switch that had died, and I was in business. Im getting way faster speeds and lower ping times on all my devices than I was with the old switch. I havent had to look at, think about, or touch this switch since those initial three minutes. Who can ask for anything more in a piece of networking equipment?

I bought this to connect both my TV and a streaming box directly to the router. I thought connecting it directly from the router would be the way to go but it seemed both devices suffered from delays. I ended up packing it away and connecting the cable directly to my TV. It was my first time trying to use equipment like this, so possibly misunderstood how it should work. Either way, it seemed to equally weaken the signal to both devices causing the picture to remain fuzzy for longer than expected.

I got this because even though my wifi works well, its nice to have some things hardwired. When I switched to a mesh wifi, I lost all the spaces my old router had for ethernet. This solves that problem. Came as described and plugged right in.

This is a quality metal enclosure switch, good visibility on the indicator lights, and easy set up. The metal enclosure provides enough weight to the unit that it wont slide around from the force of the attached cables. Works very well overall.

Great little switch. Now that we are dealing with Covid-19, I found myself and family working from home. I ran some Ethernet since WiFi was not getting me the speeds that I needed for conference calls and VPN connections. I used this switch in the system and it works great. In the evenings my boys use it when gaming as there is only one shared Ethernet wire at that location. Neither have complained about any speed issues or loss in mindless gaming ability. The drool is still trickling out the sides of their mouths, so I guess its treating them well.

Hardwired infrastructure in vacation home. Connected to a big UPS and have a whole house lightning protector in the circuit breaker box. Security system, with video is connected to it. UPS-POE lets my remote cameras work even if the power is out. Mounted it on the wall. There is a wireless connection also, but I dont trust it, there are hundreds of wireless signals nearby. Hardwire rules both for security and throughput. Ive had these in all my residences. I run the CAT6 myself and terminate the cables. Never looked back. It works and I just dont worry about it.
