Managing automatically my house network, hooked up to a fiberoptic input through a high speed modem router. Ir permits me a lot of connected devices at the same time. Excellent product. Plug and Play.

I was a big fan of Linsys gear until they were absorbed by Cisco. I ended up trashing everything but some 8 port hubs that were really good. I updated my routers (Linksys that work very well but have their own design issues) and wanted to update my hubs as well. I have both 5 port and 8 port versions. These are metal which makes them feel more substantial somehow. Linksys made the connection lights different colors to reflect port connection speed... a nice touch. If i could see the lights, that is. They are also wall mount which is a must for me. But the Cisco thinking shows up in the implementation. The unit cant decide if it is a consumer or business product. For starters, the power connection is opposite the ports. Well, ok. Now I had to decide if i reroute some of my cables or the power connections. Would have been an easy choice but the DC plug is not a right angle... its straight which means it sticks out and will be in the way. I decided to forgo looking at the status lights so I didnt have to do gymnastics with my cables and mounted it in a way that something probably wont snag the power connection and kill the ports. Would be nice if Linksys included a template... Next the power block has the prongs inline with the long side. Um, kinda blocks multiple outlets unless you are using a power strip with the outlets turned 90 degrees. Or you happen to have an outlet at the end of your surge protector. Not well though out. I ended up getting some short ext cords. All in all a decent little unit. But it has some (in my opinion) serious design/usability deficiencies.

The switch is quality. Unfortunately for me my Cat 5 cable seems to be my limiting factor now. The switch doesnt recognize that I have 400MB speed and is still switched to the 10/100 setting. If I get new Cat 6 and it still is at 10/100 then I will come back and look at the switch as the culprit but for now I am giving it the benefit of the doubt.

I replaced an older version (same model number) with this one and immediately noticed a significant increase in Internet speed. Very pleased with it,.

I need a switch because my cable TV provider issued a new set top device that used an ethernet cable instead of coaxial. Rather than sacrifice a connection directly into my smart TV, I bought this switch. Sometimes these Amazon reviews are a curse, causing information overload = plus the crush of too many divergent opinions. But after reviewing a number of similar items I found many reviewers report that some of them are falsely described as gigabit devices when their actual labeled speed is much less. Thats why I went with Linksys. Its a well made component from a reputable manufacturer. The product is a little more expensive, but worth it in my book.

I needed an Ethernet switch that had enough ports to connect my Linksys Velop Mesh router system, my Ring security system, and to hard connect my laptop via Ethernet for those Zoom calls where I wanted to ensure no wifi dropping. This switch works perfectly for all of that with ports still available. It’s small and easy to work with. I also ordered some short (1’) Ethernet cables to help with cord management since all of the units were close together. It’s been over a month and everything is working great with no issues.

Shipped in less than two day. Works great exactly what I needed it for, to keep desktop and laptop both hard wired to ethernet while at home. Speeds stay fast even with the splitter.

This is a vefry basic, well desgined swith excepot for one unfortunate feature that prevented me from being able to use it in my home office IT equipment setup. The power jack is on the opposite side from the eight RJ45 ethernet jacks. Had it been on the same side I could have used it. The photo on Amazon shows only the side where the RJ45 jacks are located; it does not show the opposite side of the unit where the power jack is located. And I didnt make the correct inference when I saw it and ordered. Seems like a minor quibble but in the location where this was to have been placed, all of the cords and cables need to be out of site - i.e., on the back. I make a point of cabling (tying together) cable and cord bundles behind my IT shelf so as to hide the wiring in my office. Actually I wanted a switch where the front panel has an led for each port that indicates traffic, and all wiring connections in the rear. This one is a great buy with usual Linksys quality, but a bit too basic for me. If I could hide the entire switch that would be fine but thats not what I want nor is it practial in my IT furniture arrangement. So this one is being returned. Ill search for a fancier unit.

I like how small it is you can see it in my picture is the small black box in the middle left and also how thin it is. Easy and fast to work. Good for its price, and also the lights are in the front where u connect the wires so u can always so if ones out or working
