Liquitex Professional Gesso Surface Prep Medium, 3.78L (128-oz), Clear

I wanted to add 2 or 3 more coats of gesso to my pre-stretched canvases, because I like a good toothy background surface to do oil painting on, and figured that more gesso would give me more texture. I bought the gallon tub, thinking it would last a long time. And it has, of course -- a little goes a long way. If you put too thick a coat on, it may not be as flexible as youd like, which means your painting may show signs of cracking in later years. Canvas needs to flex, so a few THIN coats of gesso is fine, but if you glob it on, youre asking for trouble.

Used this to prime a resin 3D printed mini that had a considerable amount of fine detail. I have to say I only tried this as a test and never really expected any kind of usable result especially since I just pasted it on without much care. When I had finished it looked terrible. BUT after it dried, the results were nothing short of amazing, it was like we had used an airbrush. Amazing!!

Used for Mandala designs that I painted on a canvas, easier to brush away the white charcoal pencil...this was recommended on a YouTube video, and I’m glad I bought it, you don’t need to use a lot to cover a 8x10 canvas so a little goes a long way..

I use this for priming canvases great coverage and perfect base for both oils and acrylics

Painting on canvas

This has a nice consistency to use right out of the bottle. Doesnt cover as well as Id like, when Im painting over something in order to change a painting - I need to apply multiple coats to cover something completely.

It does a beautiful job of priming canvases.

I use this product frequently and it is necessary for my painting style. The gesso is great but this time it arrive with the cap broken. I have a nearly empty bottle that I will use up and replace the broken cap. Just a real nuciance that’s why only 3 stars.
