> 3 dayThis review is being written 11/30/2013 for the MAGLITE ST2D036 2-D Cell LED Flashlight, Red, advertised and sold by Amazon on their website. The LED model looks and feels the same as the incandescent model, but has much brighter light. Maglite flashlights are very good consumer quality devices. Some flashlight aficionados are willing to pay much more for very advanced units from other manufacturers, but for the average consumer, the Maglite is a premium product yet remains comparably affordable. Here are some flashlight features with respect to the Maglite: - Reliability. The Maglite switch is sealed and works well, the case is sturdy, water resistant, and the unit usually survives drops. Many cheap flashlights have a poor switch mechanism, so that even though the bulb and batteries are good, you get no light unless you perhaps jiggle or hit the side of the flashlight. - Brightness. The Maglite LED is much brighter than the incandescent flashlight. - Focusing beam. Maglites, including the LED model, have the familiar rotating bezel to focus part (but not all) of the light. In the LED model, due to the increased brightness overall, the halo ring around the focused spot is also brighter. Also, the dark spot common to Maglites is seen in the LED model as well. - Battery life. The Maglite LED uses less power so you will get more hours of light than with an incandescent bulb. I recommend that you at the very least remove and inspect (or replace) the batteries every year. The most common failure for a Maglite for me is battery leakage. When this occurs, the battery will become stuck in the flashlight which is not covered by the warranty and usually means you will discard the flashlight. Although I have never had a warranty claim, please note that current policy for the LED units is to mail them at your expense plus a $15 service charge back to the company. Depending on the price for a new one, this may not be worth it. Excellent flashlight. Highly recommend it.

> 3 daySkip the multi-function flashlight, I sent two back because of poor performance. The LED 3-cell D is very bright. Im very glad I went back to the basics - it does exactly what I need (reliability and very bright). BTW, this is not my first Maglite, I own 4 others and keep them in my truck, car, and RV. If and when the multi-funtion versions preform like the simple 3-cell LED, I may buy one again, I did like the features of that light.

> 3 dayThis is the best flashlight I have ever owned. We have a field outside our back porch, it is over 180 yards long, and with this flashlight I can see clear to the end of the field. So when our dogs bark at night, I can see the whole field to see what they are barking about. The LED maglite is very easy on batteries, at least 5-10 times easier than a standard bulb. The Maglite is built very well, with the all metal housing you dont have to worry about breaking it, if you happen to drop it. For the price I paid for it on Amazon it is also extremely affordable. I would recommend this light to anyone wanting a great light that is easy on batteries. It has an extremely bright white light, that makes it easy to see from up close to far away. Also it stays bright for the life of the batteries. It also has a lifetime warranty for defects, just register your light and you have a very good warranty. This light is hard to beat, for quality, warranty, long lasting batteries, and light output.
