Bright and sturdy!

Good strong flashlight, just like one would expect from maglite. Makes for a fine self defense tool in the trunk of a car too, which is mainly why I wanted one. I get the same size and brighter strength light out of a little hand sized lcd flashlight. I just wanted the maglite as a weapon that looks light a simple flashlight.

O.k. I just bought 2 more 3-d black LED version ST3016 3-D, one for me and one for a friend. I already own one. Why the friend will be explained below. In any case, there was no black spot in the middle when focused at the most narrow focus position on the one I bought. I had the chance to take the pepsi challenge between the LED version and the same normal 3-d mag light a friend of mine owns, because he accidentially bought the old none-led version. At over 1 mile away, I could make out in a field clearly a cow (black and white). My friend with the normal mag light could not even reach the cow so that we could see that there was a cow in the field at all. Not even the outline of something. There has been some discussion about the merits of this light as a defensive weapon. I would invite all those that question if it is usefull as a defensive weapon to please come to my house and let me night blind you with it and wack you over the head with 3+ pounds of metal and batteries. Chances are we will have a discussion about how good it felt either at the intensive care unit or the morge. It will easily collapse your scull, and I have yet to use it on a person that was even ready for being blinded by it that could function a few seconds after having it shined in their eyes. Is it a 12 gauge shotgun effective form of defense? No. Is it better than standing with only your junk in your hand in the dark effective defense? most definitly the answer is, yes! I would take this over a can of pepper spray, knive, or even club. My only complaint, if it is a complaint, is that I do feel some play in the button. Totally still works, just I believe that is from using the button to slightly turn it on turn it off, rather than a full click. Saves batteries in exchange. battiers are easy 72 hours of full force, about a month of nightly use for a few mins, before the batteries start loosing their force. I ran it two weeks past that 72 hour peek on the same set of batteries, and it was still way more than useful for say another 100 hours. Just full power, needed a fresh set. UPDATE: The two original, second gen mag-lites, I bought are now both dead. The first one the button cover popped off, and shortly after the button failed. The last one, the head played out until it would no longer make contact with the battery, lens scratched up more and more, and seemed to drain batteries faster and faster, with less and less light. That said, it did last for a few years, under moderate near daily use. Still, for the name and rep, I should be passing it on to my kids. The life-time warranty is worthless to me, as I live outside the United States. It would cost more than it is worth to exercise the warranty.

Purchased this flashlight over a year ago. Did not need to use it much until last week when the power was lost for days with Hurricane Sandy. Well let me tell you, it is truly amazing how bright this flashlight is. Point it to the ceiling in any room and it will light it up completely. Take it outside at night and you will also be amazed. It is also fun to see how much brighter it is compared to the older Mag light I have. I will be ordering a few more of these for friends and family. For a little over $20 there is no reason not to have this in your closet.

I bought this maglite because I am familiar with the brand. To date it has not let me down. Solid construction, the LED light is absolutely blinding, it shines 5 houses down my block. Buy the mag and you wont be disappointed.

This brand of flashlight usually lasts a very long time and I’ve contacted the company for parts for a 10 year old flashlight and they replaced them free of charge.

I replaced this one from another I had bought & it is just as good as the other. Very bright. You cant go wrong with this light. We have bought some smaller tac lights and theyre bright, for sure, but there is no replacing a true, full size, mag light
