Maglite LED 3-Cell D Flashlight, Universal Camo

Previous to this purchase I had never owned a big Maglite, but I decided to splurge and treat myself. This rocks. I use this to take my dog out for a walk before daylight. I live in a high crime area, so its nice to know this flashlight can double as a weapon if need be. Good to have in the zombie apocalypse..haha!

The real deal… these LED Maglite flashlights are just the best I have seen and or used. I have four, perhaps five of the 3-4 cell older ones, and I am giving them to the kids and the local goodwill. These are so much better in brightness, and use of batteries, that the older ones are no longer worth putting batteries in. Maglites have always been expensive, but if you need one or more they are the only one to trust for civilian jobs. Chores around the place at night and in the car, this is it, the real deal. I have two Camo ones and a silver gray one. Im ordering another pair of black ones. The good news here is that a three cell will far outlast a six cell old one. More light, less weight, longer battery life, whats not to like about that? LED is the way to go, the bulbs Thomas Edison invented worked well for 100+ years, but it is time now, it would seem, for flashlights to move into the current age. My old Maglites still work fine, from 5 to 20 years old. Would still use them, but for this new LED version. An improvement of such magnitude that it just renders the older ones a place on the antique shelf. In the life of the flashlight, I suppose the savings in D cells alone would pay for the upgrade, perhaps even more. Something to think about as well as the need for fewer spares on hand. As expected, just a very nice flashlight.

This is a seriously powerful flashlight, but... You knew the but was coming. Theres one strange part to it that I dont like. I should say we bought this for our 11 year old son. He does a lot of camping in the summer and is always needing a flashlight for something. A few weeks ago, our house is well within the city limits, but we still get a few critters in our yard. One of neighbors built an old shed years ago and never got around to putting any foundation under it. It sits on cinderblocks. I let our dogs out to use the bathroom. Our little dachshund started barking like crazy. This flashlight was the only one I saw. So I turned it on and headed out. The light is very bright and has a good coverage range as well, but theres a black dot in the middle of the light. I shouldnt say black dot since thats vague. Its more like a circle in the middle of the light that you cant see. As I walked towards our dog, I kept the light aimed in front of me. I couldnt see the shed at all due to this black area. Then I heard something running. Moved the light slightly and could see the shed fine, but now couldnt see beside the shed. Long story short, it was a groundhog. I continued having this problem with this flashlight, but it doesnt seem to bother our son so Ill just go back to using my Maglite which is the basic, standard one that is less than half the size of this one. I almost went with five stars, but my wife also said shes noticed the black area in the lighted area. Its very good on batteries. Weve had it for about a half a year now. The batteries have yet to need to be changed. I would say its used a moderate amount of time. I know our son has taken it camping at least 5 times, but dont know how much he uses it. I would still recommend it despite that dead area Im seeing in its light, but only if you can stand having that one black area in your light. It probably wouldnt be so noticeable if it wasnt right in the middle of the lighted area which is most likely what youre trying to look at.

Comparing prices with a major home improvement chain, I decided to buy this thru Amazon which had a better price. Maglites are excellently made, durable and this LED flashlight was well worth every penny spent on it. The amount of light it gives off is amazing. I have older Maglites which are still useful but definitely not as bright as this LED version. I particularly love the camo design which I bought for camping.

The 3 D LED maglite is the best Ive used since the original lights came on the market. Good balance and weight if I need it for breaking out a window, or use in a pinch as a substitute baton. Lasts much longer than a rechargable light if youre stuck on a traffic detail at night. Mainly purchased it for the camo finish-packing it in a go bag where many items are in a OD Green or Camo color

I like how the beam can light something up from far away so I use it as a spotlight when focus it to small beam

Maglite makes great flashlights! The LED lights are great especially at night time & in fog conditions! It really does light up dark conditions very well & works great with a Nite Ize Grip N Clip Flashlight Holder that just slips over the flashlight! Its rugged & dependable & you cant beat American Made! I can definitely recommend & would buy again!

I bought this on the recommendation of a friend...we saw theirs in use, camping this summer. We got to see a momma bear and her cub at a safe distance with his mag-lite. He got his 2 yrs ago for a gift and loves it and so i bought one for us and it is great. Well worth the money...and it is a mag-lite so its built to last.

I keep one of these in each car, in my garage, and have a couple hanging around the house. With the exception of my kids taking apart the head and losing the plastic lens, theyre all still in service after many years. I bought this one to replace a Xenon bulb one and have been quite pleased with it. Nice bright light. Quite handy.
