> 3 dayI got this as Christmas present for my just turned 2 year old Grandson who loves trains. He loves it. He caught on quickly how the magnets worked. It is the first toy he gets when he comes to Papa and Nonnis house.

> 3 dayI bought this for my 3 yr old nephew as a gift. He loves it. He likes lining up the trains and pulling them along the floor. They are also very well made like all toys by Melissa & Doug.

> 3 dayBought with the Melissa and Doug figure eight track set with engine and a car (or two-cant remember). Be careful when buying extra cars, the linking up mechanisms must match. These have magnets. Almost bought a Melissa and Doug train track set that had train parts with hooks to attach cars. Also with the magnets, the cars must be lined up correctly with the positive and negative magnets touching or they will repel. Give two cars at a time for really young children to avoid frustration.

Greater than one weekI compared train pieces from different manufacturers forever and eventually settled on these ones from Melissa & Doug. They arent as expensive as the Thomas ones and they arent as cheapily constructed as some of the knock off brands. They are good in color and weight, the construction of the base pieces seems solid, and they hold up to my rough and tumble boys. The magnetic attachments are fantastic and easy to use. My kids have a lot of fun playing with these. The only criticism I have is one that seems to show up in a good handful of reviews. The wheels. They arent as sturdy as I would like and they dont move as smoothly around the track as my TODDLER would like. If you hook up a couple of cars youll probably be okay, but with a longer string, youre going to lose cars around the curves and your poor train is going to be a derailed mess...as will likely be your melting down mini-engineer. These do fantastic on a straight track or a nice, easy oval, but any kind of s curve can be a bit of a headache. For the parent of a kid who likes to make hills, this has been an ongoing struggle, but hes learning to work with the kinks in the design. Overall, were happy with these train cars, but if a redesign occurs...please for the love of all things toddler, fix the wheels.

> 3 dayBig hit with my grandson on his 2nd birthday. The trains are typical Melissa & Doug quality, which is the finest quality! Sturdy wood, nice strong magnets, brightly colored. If your little one loves trains, this set is a great choice.

> 3 dayWe packed these as a new toy while on vacation. My two year old loved them! We packed two or three when we left our room and he played with them at meals. Now they are at home on his play rug. It was a good purchase.
