> 3 dayThis dictionary is a hardcover. The book is a nice size and gas weight to it. I dont know why that thought it was acceptable to package this item in a bag for delivery with no padding or Cushion. My daughters book arrived damaged, which over rime will become worse. After a brief skim, I like the way dictionary is set up. A great addition to my daughters bookcase.

> 3 dayMy daughter asks 100 questions a day. I am so glad that now when she asks me what something means, I just point to the dictionary and tell her to look it up! Initially she wasnt too fond of this! Now that its been a few months, she LOVES her dictionary!!!

> 3 dayThis book has proven valuable even with a few words missing (no dictionary has all the words, does it?) However, we are using this for homeschool purposes and imagine my surprise, while teaching about writing and Columbus and the Taino people, that the words “rhetoric” and “indigenous” (respectively) do NOT exist in this book. I don’t fault anyone- it’s not like the entire English language could ever fit in here, however, the word “tweet” (as in the tweets you add to your Twitter account) IS listed, so I’m left wondering who prioritized social media over other words. It is still a valuable resource- my children are learning how to research, investigate, critique, and question articles and their “sources”. Today’s journalists don’t even do that today it seems, and my kids are 7 and 4. For that, I’m giving it 4 stars. I’ll review my opinion in a year if anything else surfaces.

> 3 dayMy 3rd grade granddaughter reads well above the expected level, but when I asked her what she does when she does not know what a word means, she shrugged and gave me a look like what are you talking about? I know that she does not know words that she reads when she mispronounces them. She has limited access to screen time and has no phone, so she needs a non-digital helper. So this is what I bought for her. She may think its a weird gift now, but she uses it, shell be smarter for it.

> 3 dayI ordered this for my twin grandsons who are finishing up their kindergarten year. They have been receiving online instruction for most of the school year but I was amazed at the amount of sight words as well as phonics instruction they have received thus far. So, I decided this summer would be a good time to teach them how to use a dictionary. This was the only one that I felt would be appropriate for them as the others with high ratings are for children 8+. I checked the dictionary since there were some reviews of missing pages, etc. but as far as I can tell, there were no problems with the one I received. For less than $10, this is a great childrens dictionary.

27-11-2024This dictionary is nice for elementary kids. Font is a good size for them to read easily and the pictures are nice. However, I have found basic words are not included in this edition. For example, my daughter wanted to look up recreate. All that was in the book was recreation. How do you not include recreate? Basic words and root words should be included to help young students.

Greater than one weekMy youngest daughter teaches 5th Grade Language Arts (back when she was in school I think it was ENGLISH class). Anyway, theyve moved the elementary grades into their new building this summer. And she wanted one of the Merrian-Websters Elementary Dictionary, New Edition for each one of her students to have to use. Plus have several for any new students that may come in later. So between me, other family members, and a whole bunch of her friends, she got the number of books she wanted. She is so proud of them.
