First, they delivered the product quicker than I thought, I probably got it like 5 or 6 days before the expected date.

Bought this box for our lab to further test PFSense. The 2.5gig Ethernet ports worked as expected with PFSense 2.6.0CE. Had this running in a lab environment for about a week and so far, its been flawless. My unit only came with 4gig instead of 8, but a quick chat with the seller resolved the issue completely. Looks like a great value if you are looking for an inexpensive way to run PFSense.

Bought thisto replace an aging Netgate router/firewall running pfSense after reading a recommendation on Reddit. While the product description here implies that this unit comes with OPNsense, it actually came with pfSense Community Edition 2.6.0 installed. Not a big deal to me, but those who want to run OPNsense will need to be prepared to install that image onto the system. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this little box works for my complicated multi-WAN setup with 2 Gbps fiber service. If youre looking for an inexpensive pfSense router/firewall, give this a serious look.

Purchased for use with pfsense. In reply to the single three star review saying you cant install pfsense: The current 2.6 Community Edition (CE) does not support the new intel i226 NIC used in this box, however the latest version of pfsense+ does and can be upgraded to for free from the community edition. Its a bit of a pain, but youll need a USB NIC to act as a temporary WAN to allow 2.6 to fully boot, then upgrade to pfsense+ at which time the internal i226 NIC will be recognized and work as expected.

This is a wonderful value when compared to protectli or others. I do not think the heatsink is as good as it should be as the device runs around 45 degrees celsius according to PFsense dashboard. I added a 40mm usb fan that I had laying around just sitting on top of the unit with 1/2 inch spacing and it now runs at 35 degrees celsius. Huge improvement. Ordering this to run on low speed: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MWH4FL4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A2AW0W4FKP16S5&psc=1. and it should cool nicely. Im a media horder who runs a usenet pipe almost all the time. AKA constant downloading. This device replaces a HP T730 thin client that fried after a year. Oh, this comes loaded with PFsense on ZFS. Mine came with current 2.6. Saved me a lot of work. 2.5G ports is another bonus as I cant afford to upgrade yet but am planning on. Havent tried but willing to bet one could install Mikrotik router or switch OS on these was well.

The first unit received, purchased during a lightning deal, had a hardware flaw that would not allow me to boot or install any peripheral. After a short and painless support ticket concluded that it was nothing to do with memory, hard drive(s), or install media being used it was returned.

If youre looking for a future-proof firewall box with 2.5Gbe support and better CPU performance than branded box, this is a great budget option for home/small business.

As the title states, it will no longer power on after 5 months for no apparent reason.
