The day after I could return it, the internet suddenly became undetectable. After getting no help from amazon, I called a geek squad and paid them 100 bucks to unistall a defective driver and reinstall it. It worked four hours and went bad again. Dont waste your money on this worthless piece of crap!

Its a fine, standard laptop for 2020 that isnt expensive. In my opinion, WAY better than Asus Chromebooks. Im a teacher who has to teach virtually during lockdown, so Im streaming audio and video all day long. I have to say -- for a relatively inexpensive laptop, it handles the streaming well. It does get overwhelmed and slow down when Im in 2 or more Google Classrooms simultaneously and have open multiple windows and 20+ tabs, but I dont think the laptop is to blame, more the crazy demands of virtual teaching. The camera is a huge upgrade from my 2011 Asus laptop. WARNING: theres only 1 usb port, so that Anker multi-port plug-in is a MUST. But its very cheap compared to what Best Buy tried to sell me ($15 vs. $90!!) and works flawlessly. I bought it here along with the laptop.

Ive been using mostly Dells for the last ten years and dont have much experience with Microsoft laptops, but I have a coworker with a Surface and raves about how great it is, especially the portability. So I ditched my Dell Latitude for work for a few months and tried out this Surface Go. Its cheaper than the Surface Pro, but lacks some of the cool features like the tablet mode and portability. But this is still an extremely portable laptop. Initially I was using a laptop bag for it until I realized how ridiculous that was given the size of the laptop, and traded out my bulky laptop bag for a sleek neoprene cover that the Go just slides in. Sometimes I dont even use that because the Go is so lightweight and slim. Even though the Go is thin and lightweight, it does not feel cheap and definitely feels like a sturdy laptop or tablet. I love how thi the bezel is around the monitor. It doesnt have too many peripheral ports, just one USB-A and one USB-C, a headphone jack, and the power connection. I use the USB-A for my mouse, which means there wasnt one available for a keyboard for when I work from home, so I ultimately ended up supplementing it with an external peripheral dock. The keyboard is excellent and much closer to a regular keyboard than a laptop keyboard, since it spreads out over the entire chassis. The trackpad is large, although I do prefer to use a mouse. The Go boots up super quickly. It has a decent processor and I have no delays in standard processing and productivity applications, even with multitasking. I even use it for some light gaming, although it certainly doesnt meet the system requirements of most of the newer games. Display is excellent and I love using it for travel to watch media on. The colors are bright and vivid, and it works great outdoors as well. This is definitely a great budget laptop if you dont need anything for heavy processing. I do find it gets a bit sluggish though when I have a bunch of Chrome tabs open.

It is shocking that a big company like Microsoft would sell these duds. I got 2 both stopped working after 3 months. One will not start anymore and I had to get a replacement (it takes 4-6 days to get one by the way) and the other just keeps popping up this annoying network error. There is no documentation out there for fixing it and it seems the tech support people do not have a clear solution. Just guessing. Furthermore they have this S mode which is essentially a suite of Microsoft products and its a bitch to get out of it say to run Chrome as a web browser ... and of course we have apps that need to run on chrome. So now we have to reinstall the windows OS in order to get out of S mode (this was advised after talking with Microsoft support for a couple of hours). So now I have to track down a 15G SD card to put the disc image on and do the reinstall.

My touch screen and face print did not work. My screen would periodically go black with lines. I called support and did as instructed and it still did not fix my issues. This is my first Microsoft laptop, I always go with Apple. I was let down.
