> 24 hourBe very very very careful configuring this device. Factory reset process does NOT work. Nor does netinstall once device web page stops responding. And of course the only tech support is via email. The only working recovery mechanism is to replace the device.

> 24 hourThis is currently my edge router for the house and home lab. The unit has worked without issues and doesnt have any problems keeping up with my 300Mbs line and hopefully the same will be true when we get gigabit fiber. The unit is very quiet and uses little power. Mikrotik doesnt design these unit for the general population and I struggle somethings setting things up that are easy on the Cisco routers. That said, I love the price and feature set that is available. Winbox is a great tool for administration. The forums have a lot of good information. The unit provides firewall policy, DHCP for the house, DNS for the home lab, VLAN routing, VPN gateway, and other tasks. With the kids home and me tinkering, it barely exceeds 5% utilization. My only complaint is this unit only comes with a single SFP port and it would have a great SFP+ instead for use in the network core for VLAN routing.

> 24 houri ordered this because it is a dedicated router and will not share cpu power with a wireless card so it should be faster. well at least in theory. i have built routers from repurposed machines in the past and am familiar with several open source operating systems. ip fire monowall untangle and clearOS, to name a few. i will see how this performs in comparison and keep an objective opinion. stay tuned for updates. i uploaded some initial specs not found here in the site. looks like this thing will do some work in a short time. i will update long term on this review later.

> 24 hourPackage arrived on time and without damage. Unboxed and installed the same day received. That process went fairly quickly until I noticed a small hiccup. I was in the process if installing ny access point and noticed that the ports were labeled wrong.

> 24 hourFantastic. Not your home router with dumbed down elderly compatible interface. However its not so complex where everything is done in a terminal. Nice gui, features, speed, and great value.

> 24 hourIm using this router as part of a regional microwave network. It is a capable hub router, and has been exceeding my expectations for what a $150 network device can do (I originally ordered it so that I could test a proof of concept before purchasing a Cisco ISR-4331, but think that Im going to save the $4000 and continue using the RB3011). If I can get Asterisk PBX working in MetaRouter, I may never buy a C1sco device again unless a customer requires it.

> 24 hourI was very happy with this rb3011 router because it worked great and has a lot of features (nice firewall and powerful port forwarding...) Howere, it just died yesterday after 8 months of normal use in rack mounted. Port forwarding gave out and then the router would not recognize it Mac address. I am unable to access to router via winbox anymore. Had to install netinstall file to restore the router but it is still giving trouble. This is a nice piece equipment provided if it lasted. Just to mention that the reset button in the back of it is useless. That button will not do anything unless you also install the netinstall software at the same time depressing the button.
