> 3 dayThis thing is so freaken cool. The touch screen can be used to show all types of stitistics including graphs. Has been up for over a month an hasent hiccuped once. The only disapointment is that it is a 32bit system. Only supporting FAT32 or a linux filesystem on remot network drives. So I can not run my large media drives drive off of it due to filesystem and size limitations. Also it is a bit large more than half the case is empty. The size assures that it fits in a 19 rack space.

> 3 dayVery flexible and easy to setup (assuming you have some networking knowledge). Having run my own servers, routers, etc. and also having received much training on networking and especially ethernet as a field applications engineer back in the day, I am reasonably impressed. I selected this router due to a need for high routing performance to support my recently installed gigabit broadband. With its high performance ARM 2 core CPU and its hardware assisted bridge, etc and also based on the performance numbers on the Mikrotik website it seemed it would do the job. Unfortunately, like nearly all the router solutions in this price range it doesnt appear to be able to route at gigabit speeds while accomplishing important firewall tasks. Once I dug into the manual and their online forum it became clear that in order to hit the performance numbers Mikrotik claims, the firewall, and virtually anything else other than just plain passthru, must be disabled. Yes, its got higher throughput than the Hex series and Ubiquiti low-end stuff but with just basic firmware rules enabled (the default configuration) it cant get much more than around 500Mbps throughput. Although Im using the default configuration and have disabled everything that uses CPU cycles thats it. To make sure there isnt something Im missing Ive contacted Mikrotik support and sent them my configuration file but have received no reply after several days. Bottom line is, this is a wonderful router for the price and has lots of ports and other nice features and I recommend it with the caveat that its not going to enable you to take maximum advantage of gigabit broadband although it will be better that most in this price range.

> 3 dayThe best! if you know what you are doing, there is no networking equpiment more capable or powerful than Mikrotik devices running their rOS! EDIT: in reply to chitwoods 3-star review above - you can also use he routers Ethernet port 1 s passive Poe IN feature to power the router (while still using gigabit Ethernet on that port) - so look into doing that since you obviously damaged the rear barrel power connector somehow (btw if u look at his profile its filled w many poor 1-star reviews)

> 3 dayvery fast router. I have replaced a rb2011 with which managed 65 users through simple queues, qos via queue tree, balancing loads of 3 wan via vlans, more than 30 firewall rules and another 30 in mangle. in the peak hour 60 megs were spent with an average use of 70% to 90% cpu. now with this new router 3011 the same work consumes between 8% and 11% cpu

> 3 dayWrong size power connector, even the slightest touch and the router shuts off/reboots, very poor engineering! Yes you can use POE instead, what else did they not engineer correctly? Where else did they cut corners?

> 3 dayIndisputably the most outstanding Router Box on the market today. This system is LOADED with features. Since my first MikrotiK purchase three years ago, Ive since replaced every switch, Router and Ethernet device on my network to their equipment and I couldnt be happier. The only mistakes Ive encountered were ones that I created through bad programming. These are NOT generic, home-brew, residential routers. They can be used in place of the generic, home-brew, residential grade equipment - in fact, if you want a robust and very secure home network, learn how to program RouterOS (on youtube) and youll NEVER buy another POS residential grade router again. MikrotiK systems are bulletproof! Their tech support folks are great about responding quickly as well.
