> 3 dayI am very disappointed with the product I have received. The power adapter provided barely fits in the power plug on the back of the router and the device flickers on and off constantly as a result as it loses power due to lack of a secure connection. I had to Gorilla tape the thing in to keep it on. Secondly while trying to configure it it seemingly just dies. I lose ping connectivity to it and cant access the web-gui either. I have to hard reset and power cycle the device to access it again. Thirdly the device was cosmetically damaged when I received it. There is a thin plastic coating over the face of it, and near the LED indicators it was broken/cracked. I was very excited for this device as it appeared to have all the capability I need for a project I am working on including VLANs, VPNs, etc. What I received was a damaged, malfunctioning, poorly constructed device. I was very hopeful given the great reviews for these products in general from MikroTik on Amazon.

> 3 dayYou can get into trouble with RouterOS if you dont know what youre doing. Nonetheless, this switch offers great features and flexibility. Im using these with Polycom phones and Vonage Business in two separate offices. Ive had great results and not a single network issue. Ive never restarted the router since I put it into use.

Greater than one weekVary Strong Router, One of the strongest i have worked with, However i am only giving it 3 stars because, Documentation sucks! Online videos are typically not in English. That said if you have a network engineering background dont hesitate. if you are a home owner or a small business owner this is probably not the right product for you. Well Not until they get some better setup videos. However there forum is loaded with great firewall programming code. But this product is not for the network beginner.

> 3 dayRouter has MANY advanced features and is priced well below its actual capabilities. Its not exactly the along the lines of your store bought routers in ease of use but anyone mildly serious about networking shouldnt have much difficulty. LCD display is touchscreen and has many accessible features. Firewall uses standard iptables rulesets and chains. Manufacturer provides really helpful documentation as well via their site. Would buy another.

> 3 dayThere is only one reason this gets 3 stars instead of 5. Its the total P.O.S. power supply connector. Unfortunately this thing doesnt have an internal p/s, it uses an external wall wart. The circular DC power connector on my unit is poorly soldered / connected to the PCB. So if you bump or wiggle the connector on the back of the box, the unit will reset (power failure). So its possible I got the only bad unit, but I dont dare return it for another because Im afraid the replacement will have the exact same problem. Would I pay an extra $20 for Mikrotik to put a real p/s internal to the unit? Absolutely. Mikrotik, if youre reading this, PLEASE stop using these external wall warts. I cant imagine anyone wanting to deal with wall warts in a rack environment. The same goes for your switches as well. So if I had to do it again, I would likely pay double for the ubiqiti competitor even though the price is double. The quality control here of the solder joints just arent reliable. Here comes the duct tape to hold the power connector stable.

Greater than one weekFantastic. Not your home router with dumbed down elderly compatible interface. However its not so complex where everything is done in a terminal. Nice gui, features, speed, and great value.

> 3 dayThe best! if you know what you are doing, there is no networking equpiment more capable or powerful than Mikrotik devices running their rOS! EDIT: in reply to chitwoods 3-star review above - you can also use he routers Ethernet port 1 s passive Poe IN feature to power the router (while still using gigabit Ethernet on that port) - so look into doing that since you obviously damaged the rear barrel power connector somehow (btw if u look at his profile its filled w many poor 1-star reviews)

> 3 dayIt was easy to configure. The IPtables kind of setup is something not many would like but I prefer it over the dumbed down versions. The screen can be turned off which is good. Does not run hot despite 22 total devices being connected to 1Gbps fiber internet. Its the most decent price to value of a router I have ever had. Works with UnifiPro AP out of the box. LAN transfers speeds are awesome. No choke at all because of good packet throughput. I was able to send real-time logs to Splunk instance so I can monitor the network traffic. Very powerful features, if you know what you are doing. Fanless but not hot, has been in use for 1+year non-stop. So no annoying fan sounds. The UI is simple and easy to use. Cons: being nit-picky Might be too advanced for home users. Took me a decent amount of time to learn RouterOS and have it setup right with port forwarding etc. Has limited memory and processing power so it cant really take on much outside of whats built-in. it would explain the lack of direct access since it wouldnt do much good. I wouldnt try to build too much cache or DNS lookup into it. I just used an external system for dnsmasq and squid. RouterOS can do cache and use a parent cache but it can itself be the choke. no SSH but has a terminal with RouterOS commands. wish it had 10Gbe ;) Doesnt seem to hit 1Gbps internet speeds like Edgemax used to. Might be limitation of having too many ports on the same board sharing the bandwidth. Its not a big deal to be stuck at 800Mbps. overall happy with it and glad to be rid of Edgemax. Would definitely get RouterOS in future.

07-06-2025A very nice gigabit switch. I have two now. Nothing against routerOS but I have reflashed mine to run openwrt - they have a custom build available if you search for rb3011 in the forums. I set up vlans and keep all my traffic separate. The rack mount tabs can be turned 4 directions - I oriented mine upwards and have installed the switch to the underside of a shelf.
